I don't think it is possible to make any generalisations about the break-up of relationships. Each one is different and it is often fairly academic who makes the first move to end a relationship since things will have been going wrong in the lead up to the finding ending.

Some people do play unpleasant games that involve breaking up when not actually wanting to end the relationship but this will be based on their need for attention and actually, it is often much better to take them at their word!

A friend of mine once said that he knew a relationship was over the minute he heard the words "I'm not sure what I want..." because actually, whatever was wanted wasn't going to be him. I'd simply add that it is rarely worth going back for a repeat of what didn't end happily the first time.

I'd go along with that...

It's absolutely unfathomable sometimes. I split from my ex (of 7 years) a year and 2 days ago and still don't understand the real reasons behind why she felt it wasn't worth trying for. I'm finally resigned to the idea that I will never know...

The facts are Lush that you have to have some substance. Its a harsh World and only the people who have things are appealing. Its also a shallow World and people and yes Women look at a blokes prospects when weighing them up. That means solvency, a decent job, their bank balance, their ability to provide, their looks, their ability to be a father, their future prospects. Anyone that denies that is denying the facts.

NO they don't, I didn't think a thing of that when I first met Zef, to be honest all I wanted was to spend time with him (and ahem get to know him ;-)), THATS ALL, he could have been living in a teepee when I met him for all I knew!!

Stop thinking US, stop your brain working overtime brain inventing things just to discredit yourself, YOU are your own worst enemy.

Instead of getting pissed and morose, get pissed and practice how intelligent you are in front of the mirror, how you organize the REMF, every thing you've done in your life (and do NOT come back and tell me you have done nothing as I know thats a lie). There are a milllion people out there in love that have a heck of a lot less than you do!

You have to stop trying to cut yourself down. Again you are your own worst enemy!

I can sympathise with you US because it's not nice hitting rock bottom but the good thing is once you get there the only way left to go is up, Reading through this thread there's some good advice thats been given too you so it leaves you with 2 choices.

1- You can take some of that advice and start rebuilding your life. or

2- You can you can ignore the advice and spend the rest of your life getting pissed and feeling sorry for yourself, The problem with that is nobody likes a depressed drunk.

If I was going to offer you some advice it would be simple, Anybody can get into a mess but it's what you've got inside you to get out of it that counts.
