The Argus:

Meanwhile, Henderson, formerly with the Seagulls on loan, is returning to the club permanently for a fee of around £30,000, part of which is thought to depend on Championship survival.

Irishman Henderson, meanwhile, is on the verge of returning to the south coast on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

McGhee revealed last night: "We have agreed a fee with Villa and we are just waiting to complete negotiations with the player and his agent."

Henderson could make his debut as a fully fledged Seagull in Albion's next Championship match at home to Leeds a week tomorrow.

A sticky for a player that might join if certain things are agreed, ironed out. Is this how desperate things have become, this is not really a story yet.

We've agreed a fee. Where do you think it puts us?

The money's going to be thinly spread and we're going to have to be imaginative.

"We've got to bring in players better than we have already - we need a different type of striker."

Does that mean we are looking for a striker that scores goals - that'll be different from the current situation.

Taken from the website, some of McGhees promgramme notes for tomorrow

McGhee and assistant Bob Booker have been working their contacts and clocking up the miles getting to games as Albion's own schedule allows. While chief scout Dean White has been on trips to France, Poland and Ireland in addition to several matches in England.

"We are looking in every corner for anyone who will strengthen the team going into this last bit of the season.

'The transfer window is also an opportunity to shake up the whole squad. We might move one or two players out, bring in three or four, and further integrate one or two of the younger players.

'People should not underestimate the efforts we're making to bring players in, or the lengths Dick [Knight] is going to in order to bring funds in to be able to do that.

'When I am looking to sign players at this stage, it has to be done with the knowledge that any player coming in is able to play his part. Being in the situation we are in we cannot afford to be carrying any players.

'Being at the bottom we require every single player to do every single aspect of his job.

'We cannot afford luxury players, we can only afford players, who may have all the skill in the world, but must be prepared to do the other jobs in addition. Any success we've had has been born out of a team ethic, and not from individuals.'
