C'mon Acasuso! If Federer goes out at this stage, can Murray get to no.2 in the World by the end of the French?

As a slam is worth 2,000 points, I would think so, yes, especially if he won it ! (although there's a certain Spaniard who may have a say in that)

I'd have thought Federer is "defending" a whole host of points from last year, so this stage may cost him enough that Murray wouldn't even have to win it to go past. Pretty sure Murrays record here before is such that he's already ahead of the points he won here last year.

You're probably right, I don't remember how far ahead Fed was before the tournament. A few hundred points I think. Without checking, I would think that if Fed went out now, with Murray still in, he may well overtake him anyway.

Long way to go yet, just look at yesterday Murray was in a similar position and came back to win....

True. At 1-5 in teh 3rd set, I thought it was game over.

But that's a hungry young Murray, whereas Federer has been showing increasing signs of tiring of it all, and the same fight (and belief) just isn't there every match like it used to be.
