Hmmm.

0.75% last week and now 0.5%. They've gone from 4.25% to 3%. That's one hell of a reduction.

Makes me wonder how much bad news there is still to be reported upon. I for one won't be celebrating as I fear that things are going to get a lot worse before they get better.

The fed are being seriously spooked by other things, are we likely to see the reduction in the UK - no way

our parent company were suffering very badly with exchange rate fluctuations....not that this will do anything to alleviate that, but at least borrowing money in the US will be cheaper

The US is SERIOUSLY in debt, on a governmental level as well as individuals. The problem is that they have been the main driver of world economic growth for some time on borrowed money, that it has to come to an end at some time.

Is this that time?

I can well believe that given the level of debt this country has and also those who personally owe loads.

Interesting point, maybe the significance of this is being over-egged and the effect of a downturn in the US economy may not have such an adverse effect on the World as might be imagined, especially given the growth in the economies of other countries.

It is interesting to see how comfortable Gordon Brown was on his recent visits to China and India, two of the fastest growing economies in the World, he was certainly warmly received. Perhaps he has seen an opportunity to foster relations with them as our "special relationship" with the US seems less attractive or beneficial to our country.
