According to today's Argus:

Adams said: “We’ve had a mini pre-season, which has involved a lot of physical tests.

“We wanted to see what state of fitness they were at and what it showed is that some, not all of them, needed a little bit of a top-up.

“I think it will have done everybody the world of good. We’ve been pleased with what they have done and now it's back to football.

“I would think a lot of managers have given their players a bit of time off but obviously we couldn't do that, not in the situation we find ourselves in.”

BRILLIANT. So we are playing badly, not creating chances, not defending well enough and generally being poor. The answer? Get out on a RUN...

I've said it before and I will say it again. Adams is SO old school it HURTS.

I think the general point is that the boys are underperforming so the place to start is with fitness and attitude. They do the technical training week in, week out, so this is more of a back to basics view which I think makes sense, but what do I know, I am RUBBISH at Football Manager !

I don't think fitness levels have anything to do with the fact our players never create chances, can't defend at set pieces or seemingly pass to each...

What's wrong with doing a bit of fitness work, surely can't hurt? Maybe the fitness levels have been a major factor in recent poor performances

The only players that look unfit, are the players that are forced to play whilst still injured.

Fitness hasnt been the issue, as we have been banging in goals in the last 5 minutes for fun this year.

The obvious problems are the tactics and playing people out of position, and thats what I think is pretty much the only reason for our poor performances, not fitness

Jesus christ, I was just saying it might be a big factor, I'm not trying to claim we've been playing well. Are you guys honestly suggesting they haven't done ANY ball work since the last game? Whatever they have or haven't done since the last game, we will see what effect it has tomorrow, so maybe just wait until 5pm tomorrow before you slate the f*** out of Adams' training methods?

I just love the way everyone becomes the world's best footie manager when things go bad for us, I'd love to see how some of you would do in the hot seat, now that would be interesting.

Lets sack adams and hire a different supporter each month as manager. The crowds would flock to see that !!!

I'm doing no such thing. I think the fitness training regime (something Paul Rogers recalls was what Micky used to do 'all the time' during his first tenure) is an essential and necessary part of the whole programme.

If Micky has identified that fitness is an issue, especially at a time of the season where really shouldn't have to (players have to take their own sense of responsibility for this sort of thing), then he quite rightly will do something about it.

It could be that fitness is one of the reasons as to why we're playing badly - certainly there is less effort going into this season's performances that last season.

Other than that you're nearly right, but I'm not sure why tomorrow at 5pm will ascertain whether this new regime will be effective. I'm gonna wait til Saturday.

Firstly, I think I'm still a bit pissed from last night so my lack of awareness of time can be partially accounted for by that! I wasn't even specifically talking to anyone, just can't believe that people will slag off Adams, even though he is clearly trying to do something a bit different that will hopefully help the team. If come 5pm on Saturday, it hasn't worked, then we will all have a right to be pissed off.

Is it me, or are we losing because we are rubbish at sockargh, and the opponents have been better than us at creating chances and shooting?

I have to say that I'm more disappointed by the 'some of them needed a top up'. Surely as a professional sportsclub we are constantly/daily monitoring the fitness of players. The equipment to monitor fitness/heart rate etc these days is superb.

Yeah, they are also better at passing the ball to teammates and not having Colin Hawkins.
