I understood when he was released last year that this was to be one of the ramp up events for the Amex. Is this happening, or has it been quietly forgotten about? Shurely not......:albion2:

Thanks that clarifies things - I must have missed that one.
No. FDM and the club have agreed to delay the testimonial until a later date. Possibly pre-season 2012/13.

I had the pleasure of Michels company recently, and I know it makes no sense, but he was quite clear in that he believed his testimonial is going to be in September, against a Premier League club. In fact, he told me that was when it was going to be.

Really?!?! Maybe during an International break (is there one due then?). If that is the case then I apologise to the thread starter for false info!

As chairman of FDM's testimonial committee, that's the first Ive heard of this agreement.

As things stand we wait for a number of costings re the Amex, when we've got this then we can look at various dates and potential opponents.

So pre-season this year is still an option?

I'm sure I read in one of Andy Naylors pieces (can't remember when) that his testimonial was not to be a ramp up event. My comment re pre-season 2012/13 was just a thought that I had as a suitable date.

Also Superphil was told by the man himself re a September date! I hope you are not being kept out of the loop!

...and I know it makes no sense,...

usually when it doesnt makes sence its because its wrong. you should consider the possibility he was on a windup. as said before, in the international break you'd get a very poor availablity of players at premier league sides.
