How about a repeat run of the hit ITV series ' Love Thy Neighbour' .

The beauty of that series is that it highlighted the absurdity of being racist. A point that would of course be lost on todays PC brigade.

.. and 99% of the people who watched it the first time.
Nah, I'm sure a lot of the younger (at that time) generation could see it was poking fun at old bigots, not ethnic minorities.

I remember watching Fawlty Towers with my step brothers who have more of an Australian sense of humor they sat there quiet as I pissed my self laughing.

Not so sure to be honest. Alf Garnett was lost on most as well.

That's generally my view on comedy to be honest. You can just deduce it's meaning from it's intention, you have to consider the reaction as well.

I'm not sure times have changed that much, take a hidden microphone around to any building site, pub, football ground, train station, town centre and raise an awkward question regarding race, asylum seekers, un-employment etc, I think you'd hear the same comments today.

No no, things have changed, people don't talk like that anymore don't be ridiculous. (I think that's what we're supposed to all pretend these days anyway)

The closest I, moi, ever got to dying laughing was at one of Harry Enfield's "Loads" sketches on Friday Night Live back in the later 1980's.

It was the time when he talked about going to the opera.

"I don't go to football no more cos its too CHEAP!"

We all love Domingo when he comes on we all chant "DominGO DominGO DominGO.." but we hate that Pavarotti cos he's FAT. When he comes on stage we all chant "PA-VA-ROT-TI SHUT YOUR MOUF!"

It was the time when Yuppies were reviled and opera was becoming fashionable, the idea of football/opera crossover was new and funny. Then there was Italia '90..

Is this sketch on the net, please? PLEASE...

Sorry, couldn't agree with you less. The entire point of that sketch is Cleese showing how absurd the racism was of the (then) older generation. This is as anti-racist as you can get. Or have I missed your point?

I think the point is rascist or anti rascist it would be considered too un pc to be shown on modern day nanny state tv.
