It's been a very good year for music (not most of the crap suggested in this thread obviously, but other good stuff)

tough call but I'll give the nod to:

Nick Cave - Abatoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus

(helped by his magnificent live shows and the fact that he lives just round the corner)
