Difficult to pin down a 'best' instrumental - so many to choose from.

Magazine - The Thin Air
Simple Minds - Themes for Great Cities
Fleetwood Mac - Albatros
Santana - Samba Pa Ti
Fucus - Sylvia
Yes - Mood For A Day
Style Council - Blue Cafe
Satriani - Flying in a Blue Dream
Satriani - Speed Of Light
King Crimson - Song Of The Gulls
Santana - Europa
Dave Edmunds - Sabre Dance
Harvey Mandel - Ode To The Owl, Midnight Sun, Wade in The Water, Christo Redentor

then there are so many great guitar players too, who have instrumental work

Danny Gatton, Harvey Mandel, Steve Howe, Yngwie Malmsteen, Michael Schenker, Ritchie Blackmore, Roy Buchanen, Scott Henderson, SRV, Robben Ford, Jan Akkerman.....

excellent but I prefer Cathedrel off Diver Down...sounds so weird yet good, like its done with a keyboard but it's entirely on guitar.

Have you been watching BBC2's 'Seven Ages Of Rock' programme on Saturday evenings?

This week, the focus is on Stadium Rock (mainly concentrating on Led Zep, The Boss and U2 apparently), and should be well worth a watch.
