I assume it's the must from being in the loft all year but the decorations had their own fragrance. Always takes me back to being a kid.

The whiff of vintage tinsel. weapons grade fire hazard too.

I have a few old decorations which must be as old as me . . . past their prime, but have to be kept. THey do have a certain aroma, as you say a combination of loft must and old tree.

Always loved the smell of the tree, but last year we got some Spiced Apple fragrance that really reminds me of Christmas in Florida. You smell it everywhere in stores etc. over there at this time of year, & it brings back great memories of spending the holidays in the Sunshine State.
