Mullery the first time. Those 3 years when we were promoted, just missed out and then got to the top flight had this incredible momentum about them where we all
BELIEVED we would win every game, and so (mostly) we did. Mullers had the arrogance to stuff it up the so-called bigger clubs and the players and the fans took their lead from him.

"would that be the same Mike Bailey under whom we had our highest ever league placing?? "

Did you watch any of that season ? I can't quite remember the details but we had a shocking second half of the season.

Stevie Gritt - kept us alive and then treated pretty shabbily by the club.

Chrissy Cattlins blue and white army!!!!!!!!......Although i never will understand why Lloyd was so dispised,,,against all the odds, he got us 90 mins from the top division.True what followed that was terrible, but we all know who was pulling the strings upstairs and Lloyd had an impossible job,one that 99% of people, would have walked from,i truely belive it affected the man. That said he was not a fav of mine, but i think he is harshly treated by many in a impossible job.

Brighton factually.....
It should be Mullery for this pic, but WILKINS as he was my favourite player when I was growing up watching The Albion, and I loved his intention (as manager) of making the most of the youth system and promoting Sussex lads to the first team. Oh and the final whistle scenes at Chesterfield!!

It didnt quite work out, but its not who is the best, its about your favourite

1/ Cattlin
2/ Adams (round 1)
3/ Mullery (round 1)

I just showed the wife the above pic of Mr Mullery giving the great two finger salute. and explained it again to the wife finishing with "you gotta love him for that"........................." i thought you loved GARY WARD the most " was the reply.........:(................women

When I read the thread starter I thought Cattlin straight away. I am surprised to see that so many people feel the same way when other manages have had more success. Don't know why never liked Mullery or Loyd.

Second best would be Mickey Mark 1, although those 80's days with Steve Penney, Danny Wilson e.t.c. will always stay in my memory.

Mullers, cos he was there during that incredible rise to the first division. Always had a soft spot for Pat Saward too. My old man thinks Billy Lane was the best.

Oh dear I am feeling old

where is freddie goodwin when you need him? Possibly one of the few on here who could remember back to the days of macaulay/goodwin/saward
Macauley gets my vote as well ,S G. That wonderful season when we won the old 4th division , scoring 102 league goals, will never be forgotten by anyone who witnessed it.

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
I have been actively supporting Brighton for 19 years and we have had 19 managers in that time.

I am going to plump for McGhee. A man of honesty, integrity and put up with a lot of unnecessary crap from all directions. Closely followed by Gritt and Wilkins.

Alan Mullery (1st time) for 3 fantastic years, and if you were'nt around at the time, have a look at some of the videos from that era. When I look at them now I realise it wasn't my memory playing tricks, we really were that good.
