VB Victoria Bitter......great memories........crate of that inside you and you can take on the world!

Never thought I would hear Vic Bitter and good beer mentioned together.

Difficult to call just one single beer as I regularly have nice beers. But, if pushed I'd plump for Punk IPA. It's a great beer in its own right, it really is, but it has also played a big part in revolutionising the UK beer scene and industry and has proved to be a gateway beer for me and many others on their move away from mass-produced beverages to much much better beers and ales.

It tastes so good, and has done so much, and it's therefore my favourite.

Very curious having Harvey in amongst those others as they're such different styles. Can't stand the American hop varieties myself.

I think Harvey's and Hophead are quite similar both easy drinking session beers

James Squires, One Fifty Lashes on tap here is rather splendid.
Guinness.
Holsten pils.
Why, because they are nice.

One Fifty Lashes is a fine ale but after couple it blows me out.Good as a starter ale rather than a session ale

Go have a pint at the Rose and Crown in Guildford here, if you are anywhere near, bloody brilliant.

must say im pleasently surprised by the votes for Harvey's Old. very partial to that and the Old style in general, but there's not alot of it about an nothing i've found bottled up to much.

Depends where you are in Sussex obviously, you can get the bottled Arundel and Hepworth Old Ales in my local Waitrose!

Punk IPA aside I really like Mikkeller George Cognac barrel-aged imperial stout in the winter. That with a slab of Roquefort.

Hmmmm, I find Harveys Best the perfect session beer, but Hophead far too strong (flavour-wise), though ok for the odd pint. Each to their own though.

Yep, I don't think they could taste more different.

Harveys Best - bitter, musty slight caramelly. Slight odour of sewage if the barrel is more than a couple of days old.
Hophead - strong citrussy, slightly creamy.

But then I'm a supertaster, which is probably why I find Hophead (and most beers made with American hops) too much.
