Dickens was a bit crap.

I think the majority of his works were originally published in newspapers which accounts for the wanky over the top setting of the scene in every chapter.

Orwell is untouchable.

The single greatest author of modern times.

BAR NONE.

Nah, the film was poor and it bears only a slight resemblence to events in the book. On it's own the film does not stand up.

The book is better but that said the film is far better then I thought it would be.

Could have dealt more with the OAP's though and a bit more of the social commentary of the book.

Will also be interesting to see if they make a film out of the second book which is about a different set of characters entirely...Although the 3 main characters from the first book (there was only 2 in the film so 1 must have gone missing!!) make a cameo appearance in 1 of the chapters.

The second book is my favourite of the 3.

Albion & England forever.

Rumour has it they are making all of them eventually.

I would expect the other two to be different from the book though.

The film on the Soul Crew is due out this year. Meant to be even more messy then Football Factory.

Thankyou for this uneducated insight into literature. You cretin.I do hope if you are doing a Degree in English, you do not put this as an answer.

Why do you feel the need to say such rediculous things?

Literature, like music and art is a very personal thing. Oliver Twist was an extremely well written, fast moving and authoritive work based on the sub-culture existing in London at the turn of the last century. A Christmas Carol was a superb piece of literature. But this is in my opinion.

My favourite author at the moment is J K Rowling. Her Harry Potter books are as far as I am concerned everything a good read should be. As far as "serious" authors are concerned, my favourite is Alison Weir
