I wouldnt bet on that. I remember the old Fantazias that used to pull in 20k and they had massive Police presence, massive security, 10 times the performing artists and the promoters used to still take home about a quarter of a mill.

20,000 * £20 = £400k before beer and food are even added.

I cant see that the gig cost more than £100k total. 150 coppers on what £300 a day = £45k. The system, stage and rig probably hired in for about £40k.

Reckon there was a tidy profit made. Gues FBS needs to cash in somewhere when you look at his last album sales.

Well the tickets were £30. So that's a higher starting total. But you've overlooked the 130 security staff who'd want paying, probably at time-and-a-half over a couple of days on-site, rather than just the day itself. Dunno, dare say FBS will make a bit on the deal, as is only right, tho I'd have thought he'd make less on the gig itself, more on the soon-come DVD. The council seem happy enough that it's put Brighton on the map a bit more and those who went were certainly happy enough, so everyone's a winner aye?

Ok, even if you trebled the Police costs there is still a very tasty margin there.

Fair play to FBS, he put on the show and deserves the wedge, but its not as if hes done the whole thing for love as some seem to think.

Why does everything come down to bloody cost in this country? Just enjoy the f**king day.

There was a great piece about our attitude on BBC a few weeks back. When you ask anyone from China what is their first question about the olympics it is how many medals China will we get. The same question in the UK gets a 'how much will it cost' response. Why cant we just get on with enjoying the games instead of winging that the costs are a little higher than expected.
