Fat people, scourge of society or unfortunate victims?

The big ones seem to represent all that's wrong with society today, greedy, lazy, stupid and have no sense of citizenship.
We have more nutritional info, gyms and spare cash than ever but the greed takes over,do we need another war to get people eating better? Should we tolerate the selfish lardos or tax the greedy beggars into health?

I could spend a great deal of time going into reasons why you (and others who have posted on here) are wrong, but apparantly I'm too lazy to do so...

Anyway - I am fat, and am trying to do something about it (gym, healthy eating etc). Can you explain your post above, in particular how I am "stupid" and have "no sense of citizenship"?

As for the tool below who says that fat people are the cause of 99.9% of the world's problems - unbelievable. If God was a fatty, then maybe. However, the pictures I've seen of him suggest that he's quite a slim chap....

Yes, let's ban all the pies. That'll solve the problem. I hope the posters who hate fat people are prepared to post pictures of themselves as most of the fans I see at the Amex are overweight.

I have been fluctuating between a 32 and 34 inch waist recently. This annoys me greatly as i believe i should be a 32 and no more. As a result of this i have been running every other day for the past 3 weeks and have cut out sugar. I refuse to be fat because i have:

A - Self control
B - Self respect
C - Not enough money to replace my entire wardrobe

Fat people have none of the above including the wardrobe comment as they ALL wear black tracksuit trousers that are too short for them. All of this is fact. Just saying

Correct you do. Can you explain why you all refuse to do the buttons up any further than half way and why you all have grey chest hair?

Is there also a class issue here, fat poor people or normally derided as being the underclass of society, where as the corpulent rich are held up as beacons of attainment

Where did you get that picture? Have you been on my hard drive again?

:)

Didn't realise it was you mate. I took this picture of a fat man appealing for calm at the cutting of a cake. I think it was at a childs birthday party but you could easily insert: weeding cake, engagement cake, funeral, Christmas party and this picture could have taken at any time within the last 100 years anywhere in the world. This is because all fat people look the same and are permanently hungry.

Look at the belt....................it's screaming in pain

If you are fat because you eat too much then you really have only yourself to blame and should sort yourself out.
If on the other hand you are overweight because you drink a lot of beer then that is a totally different matter and deserving of everyone's support.

The world is so simple through some eyes. "Hey, fatty, stop eating = lose weight. Simple."

Yeah, right.

And these are the people saying fat people are stupid?

There was a jerry springer show...im not proud, it was early morning and nothing else on tv...about obesity...all the excuses were there..big boned, glandular, hereditary... and a black girl in the audience, got up and said......its not big bones, its not glandular, its not hereditary....youre eating too much....no fat people walked out of Auschwitz.

Cant really argue that ..

Seriously now, there's far too much negativity about fat people. People assume we're lonely, poor, stupid and somehow offensive. I'm none of these things, yet I still get put into this group by ignorant people. Even at Brighton games, i've had abuse from idiots sat near me... Out of interest, if fat people are the problem, why do football grounds only serve pies & hotdogs? A nice pre-packed salad would go down well....

Anyhow - off to the gym this evening - trying to lose even more.

why is it those that hurl the most abuse toward chubby people always seem to be ugly?

They aren't all ugly. Their faces are stretched as they battle to resist being pulled in to the fat persons tractor beam. Gravitational pull can be a destructive tool

No, it isn't.

Er, yes. Yes it is.

I'm not sugesting that starvation is a healthy mechanism for weight loss, but IF anybody stops putting calories into their body, then their weight will decrease. That is an unarguable FACT.

a victim of what exactly?

time was being portly or stout would be seen as someone enjoying a good life. the problem has become too many people excessivly portly, and coming with a great big load of attitude. that reflects their underlying personality, probably selfish and greedy. but there are others that are quite happy about their plump size and enjoying themselfs, so carry on.

what i do have a massive problem with is those that are seriously fat two seater who interfere with the enjoyment of others. i really hate those that pretend they are fat because they are too poor to eat properly, because they are lieing lazy shits. non takeaway and unprocessed foods are much cheaper, they just require a little time. we need to seperate fat as in podgy and plump from proper obese. 15st from 20st+.

Of course, but as you say, it's not healthy but it's the sort of extremes people go to. I've never been a large person, but I've never had a problem with people who are, either. I don't understand why some people dislike fat people so much, it's an obsession for some people and I don't understand it. When these people then call all fat people stupid and ugly, I have a problem with that. Partly because it is pathetic, but mainly because it's so beautifully ironic.

In answer to the tread title, neither. Fat people are neither a scourge, nor unfortunate victims.

Innit. Ricky gervais talks about this is his stand up and his hatred for all the excuses, 'If you put in more calories than you burn off, you put on weight'. SIMPLE.
