where will you b having your last cigarette on Saturday night???

most pubs are making an evening of it giving away ash trays, showing off smoking shelters etc.

In which case I unreservedly apologise. I interpeted your question as that of a sanctimonious bastard of a non-smoker taking excessive pleasure at the forthcoming ban.
:smokin:

appology acepted  :smokin:

slightly off topic but if a venue is a members club (social club, golf club etc) does the ban still count as technically its not a public venue?

Ta. I can't believe I'm jumping down peoples throats already, and I'm not even giving up until Monday!!!

My oppo in the office and I are both giving up, so we're going to send out an all users email in the office on Monday morning telling people not to contact print support unless absolutely necessary as they are likely to get shouted at.:lolol:

As much as I hate the idea of a ban, I am quite glad about it, as it will certainly help me give up. I rarely smoke at home, and won't be allowed to smoke anywhere else, so I may as well give up all together.

My first 3 fags of the day will all be a no-no from Monday:
#1. Walking along the platform at Brighton station to the front of the train
#2. Walking from the train to the tube entrance at Victoria station
#3. In the cafe along the road from the office getting my morning coffee.

Yes.

I have the dubious honour of being a trustee of an organisation that runs three bars. Two of them are licenced as 'members clubs' and the third is registered as a public venue. All of them will be covered by the smoking ban.

Basically (as we understand it) the ban covers wherever anybody could potentially be employed (i.e. someone could work behind the bar of a members club).

I know smoking is bad for me but I am almost pushed the other way by these Health Nazi's in that it make me want to smoke MORE. I will give up when I want to not when the government tells me to. I just find the sheer hypocracy of the whole thing so annoying, smokers and smoking is the new evil in the UK and are the causes of all the bad things that happen but will the government ban cigarettes and make them illegal which you would think they would knowing the harm they state they do, NO, because they get £ 7 000 000 000 a year in taxes.

Also what will this ban mean, it will mean smokers will smoke MORE in their own homes, which means MORE passive smoking and children being subjected to much more smoke than they would have done if their parents had been allowed to go to the pub and have a drink and fag away from the home.

A work colleague was very angry that smokers would still be allowed to sit out in the open outside of pubs as he said some smoke may waft in through the window ruining his day and presumably his health.

This is the start of the Health Nazi's campaign and if I were a non smoker I would have been against the ban , they will move onto alcohol and then fast food and then fast cars , in 5 years time you will not be allowed to drink more than 2 pints in a pub as they will not serve you anymore as it would put you over your daily recommended units, believe me it will happen, so all the non smokers feeling very smug now beware they will move onto something you enjoy before too long mark my words.

The ban was always a good excuse for me to quit as I only smoke when drinking, but bollogs, I'm with roz and us smokers will always be catered for in some capacity. Having been in Glasgow in the winter and seen how pubs up there had adapted since the ban, I can't see English smokers being any worse off, and I shall still be joyously taking my pack of Drum to the pub.

My local is having a smokers party with the free ashtrays an that but I'm actually going to a house party, so I'll not notice the ban until Sunday I guess.

The real bitch is that I was desperate to do Fabric for one final session with class A's, B's and C's before the class C's are off the menu for good.

Bunch of arse

I am going to smoke MORE just to spite the Government.

I've also invested in a box of snuff so I can get nicotined up in the boozer if the weather isn't looking to great outside.

Next monday will be good seeing all you smelly sods puffing outside your place of work.
YOU ALL STINK ROTTEN, GIVE IT UP.

Er, how many places of work allow people to smoke on the premises at the moment then?

Only I've never worked anywhere but a pub where you were allowed to smoke

they were to be left out, but they are now included as they are still a place where the public gather, even if members etc. Hooray, I dont smoke and cant wait to go to the pub get blasted and come home smelling similar to when I went out!
