Fan's train to Cardiff

Who's got tickets for this? I have. Leaving Hove (not brighton!) at 7:30am and then worthing at 7:45am, then straight to Cardiff.

Have to admit, I didn't even know this train was happening, let alone you could buy tickets for it at Withdean. 2nd class £27.50, 1st class £40. Of course I only brought enough cash for the sodding tickets and they would only accept credit cards for merchandise, not travel tickets, so I had to borrow and beg the money to get them!!!!

Anyone else on it? It arrives at 12:30 which is good time to get a drink and some dinner in Cardiff, and leaves when most of us are back on it :). Can't drink alcohol on it, naturally.

Seaaagulls!

Can't drink on a train? Bloody hell, what is the world coming to? Nothing else for it - if it's a Seagull Special train (remember the 1970s?), the light bulbs go out of the window, the curtains block up the bogs, and a 'firm' has to be waiting for us at one of the stations.

It's the law, you know.

We were told about this whilst queuing at the club shop. I thought £27.50 was a good deal so I rang the friends I was buying for and agreed to get train tickets.

When I had bought the Cardiff tickets I went to the ATM and got cash out and returned to the shop to buy the train tickets (I didn't have to queue again)

I never heard anything about this while waiting at the clubshop, and i got there over an hour before it opened :(

The steward was handing out leaflets. It had details of the coach and the train.
I was there from 7.45 onwards.

I work for South Central, and I didn't even know this was 100% for certain running.

Can anyone confirm?

Yes I have the train tickets already

Why not call to Withdean or the club shop tomorrow to get train tickets.

You don't have to queue for those, just tell a steward that's what you want. I believe (not absolutely sure) that there are 700 spaces on the train.

I paid there and then. They are only taking cash so when I had got my Cardiff tickets I walked down the road to the ATM, got cash out and went back. The steward knew I was going for train tickets so I walked straight back in.

The table is immediately on your left as you go through the door.
The train tickets are Brighton tickets with TRAIN TRAVEL printed on them.

Thanx Yorkie i'll go down when the club shop opens in the morning to see if they have any left :)

Be sure to let the steward know you are solely there for train tickets.

im on it - traffic gettin out of cardiff is murder.

you can sort of drink on the train (discretely) - they have to say that. They cant say "we have a piss up train to cardiff with a fully stocked bar". Its just PR.

I bought my train tickets at ten to eight tonight and didn't get the impression that they were on the verge of selling out. But like an eejit I didn't actually ask how many were left!

The sign on the table is very slightly misleading though - it says "Coach travel" in large letters although they are selling coach AND train tickets.

But perhaps Pethicks's Haircut could confirm the likely capacity on a charter train? I'm assuming it'll be 8 coaches upwards in length?
