I like the idea of a drum, a great big bloody kettle drum, and a lunatic with a megaphone bouncing up and down on a milk crate.
Maybe every time we score we could throw blue and white toilet rolls on the pitch, followed by flares so they catch fire, and as a cloud of smoke engulfs the stadium and we can all cough in unison.

Plus we can arrange for all trains & buses to leave Falmer the earliest an hour after kick off, to stop early leavers.

what is not to like.

Can be sure the club wont miss the commerical opportunity in the club shop.

North stand drummer figurines.

DYO Banner colouring set - inc one white queen size Egyption cotton sheet, assorted paints, brush, stensil and brush cleaner

The UK’s a sweary country. I work with clients, often from very privileged and posh backgrounds, into rugby or cricket, who swear for England.

The US is a mixed picture. A colleague spent many years working for Coca Cola in London and Atlanta. Their rule was immediate dismissal on hearing blatant swearing …. a Bible Belt thing. I wouldn’t have lasted.

Yeah that is kind of the impression I've had from meeting Brits and Americans over the years... I really think it was just my teacher and my principal having some personal thing about it.

She was very, very good and nice though so no hard feelings (I know she got at least two former colleagues hanging out here!).

When I went to the "prepare-to-move-to-England" school at Visingsö this spring, I said a naughty word at the first lesson.

We we're doing some roleplaying employment-interview and I was one of the the employers and had to pick one out of three candidates. I told one of the candidates "well, you're a bit of a knob and you're not going to work for me".

Depending on the job, possibly not the sort of thing you'd say to their face, but that's basically exactly how we talk to each other :clap2:

My personal favourite for colleagues is knobhead. In the pub after work, maybe "this ****".

Edit: apparently I'm too rude for NSC. Erm, begins with T, rhymes with hat.

For a bloke who has never been to an Albion game never mind the North Stand, you come on here and other threads spouting off about something you have never experienced or ever will I doubt.
I expect you spend all day trawling this board sitting there in your string vest and Y fronts with 15 cats wandering about the room you live in.

You could try modifying it so it rhymes with tit

How do you measure good or bad atmosphere ? smiling faces , volume of noise generated , amount of beer sold after a game?

If you can't define a measure for it how can you improve it?

The measure:

100% - Estadio Alberto J. Armando or Elland Road.
0% - Stadium MK or the Vitality Stadium.

FGR, a game after which all the pensioners on here started a big thread complaining there were too many young people trying to start an atmosphere :lolol:

"All the pensioners"?

One. Who was complaining about the poor quality of the bantz, rather than the fact it was taking place.

Had you been at Man U, West Ham or Fulham you'd know that what you wrote is total and utter bollocks. But maybe your authentic old skool support only extends to large villages in the Cotswolds. What a hard man.

I should probably add that, of course, not all 17 year olds are off their nut and many are helping the atmosphere. But if you're just there to take coke, as it seems a sizeable minority are, then you're obviously more interested in that than football.

That's literally what an atmosphere is. Kicking the ball is down to the players. If they do then we have a game of football

Not quite true. They seem to manage for odd games. Literally the whole ground singing for Sheffield Weds at home. The atmosphere normally picks up for Palace as well. But for most games our fans are reactive, even the supposed singing leaders in the North. We'll never have proactive fans in terms of atmosphere and putting it to a committee to ask why is a bit pointless IMO. No different to other grounds either. Villa is a "proper" ground with "proper" fans and they were silent until they scored against us last season. United's atmosphere was terrible this season. Fulham is every bit as middle class as its reputation.

In my view the thing that improves the atmosphere is goals. When we won last season the atmosphere was great, when we didn’t it was poor. Simple as that.

Yup. Hard to disagree with that and it's part of what I meant by "reactive".

In my work experience, I’d say the world of investment banking (full of public school chaps given the colossal nepotism that still exists) is way, way worse than any football terrace. Not much difference between NY and London, NY probably edges it for casual f***s being included in virtually any sentence (‘whose fvcking turn is it to get the fvcking coffee’). When I worked in Miami is was far less sweary……

There was a whole series of comments from posters criticising the songs/comments at FGR……it was crap, but that was more down to the ground layout IMO. Worse than West Ham for getting anything going.

We (my daughter and I) laugh at the nonstop “Jerk” and “Douchebag” insults when watching US reality TV.
