We've got some blokes over from NY in our office this week. They have bumped into Bill Gates (said hello, he's over here for an honorary knighthood or something) and Don King (they didn't go near him) in their hotel bar on successive evenings.

It go me thinking, have any of you been away on business or holiday - and shared the hotel with the rich and famous.

My only feeble entry was the Albion players sharing the hotel with us on the night before Plymouth away when we won to gain promotion a three of years back.

I used to work in Shelleys in Lewes and we had The Style Council + all the roadies twice, the President of Germany and Jasper Carrott staying while I was there. Making sandwiches for 20 roadies wasn't much fun. Paul Weller and Jasper Corrott were both miserable by the way

The arse end of Hangleton
Having stayed and worked in quite a few hotels my list looks a little long !!!

I was staying in the Birmingham Hyatt when Gladiators was being filmed. Had breakfast right next to Fash and Ulrika. Vogue also smiled at me

In the same hotel but on another stay Jemery Clarkson was there.

Worked in a hotel in Brighton when the Labour party conference was on and met Mr Blair and Mr Prescott ( both knobs but I didn't know how important 2 Jags would be later on !!!! )

Tessa Sanderson was stayed in another hotel I worked in.

Gyles Brandeth ( he of stupid jumper fame ) stayed once during a party conference.

Finally - The Chippendales - stayed once - by the way ladies - they're nearly all gay !!!

While staying at Jury's Hotel, Newcastle last June, the end of a turgid conference was livened up a bit by Emlyn Hughes and his mates. Up there on a golfing jolly and happy to strike a pose...

I used to work in room service at the Brighton Grand. Famous people I've served/seen include:

Paul Daniels and Debbie McGhee, Wendy Richards, numerous Tory/Labour MP's, King Hussein of Jordon, the King of Belgium, Annie Lennox (in her pyjamas) and Dave Stewart, Emlyn Hughes

But by far the worst, and most miserable, nasty, moaning guest of the lot was Robert Maxwell.

Too far from the sun
A few years ago I was in Madrid on business. Went to get in the lift to go down to breakfast and just squeezed in with a number of young blokes in tracksuits and an old geezer in a suit. The young blokes were Dynamo Kiev (or at least about 6 of them) and the old geezer was Valeri Lobanovsky. A stunning conversation broke the awkward silence:

ME: Excuse me, but are you Mr Lobanovsky?
VL: Yes
ME: (offering to shake his hand) Nice to meet you
VL: (shaking my hand) Thank you

2 Dynamo Kiev players then laughed briefly and it all went quiet for the rest of the journey. As we all got out of the lift one of the players who laughed took me to one side and said: 'You do know that Lobanovsky doesn't speak english don't you?'

I met Chris Eubank in the Bar when staying at the Grand for a work do. Chatted with him for a couple of minutes and he was a really nice guy.

Emlyn Hughes  Oh Roz, I am so sorry. I hope it didn't spoil your stay too much.

I stayed at the same apartment complex as OGH in Lanzarote a few years ago. Top fella. He even wore his Albion shorts in the pool.

John Hurt was in the pub that we watched the Wolves Man Utd game before QPR in Oxford Circus

I sat at the next table to him in a restaurant in Devon a few years back

Whilst on the subject, my familt used to run a Hotel in Worthing and we had Windsor Davies and a number of other C & D list celebs who I can't remember but whilst working as a chef (a few years ago) I served the likes of Omar Sharrif, Midge Ure, Hazel O'Connor, Richard O'Sullivan, Richard Briars, Jim Davidson and a lot of Albion players inc. Garry Nelson, Steve Foster, Kevin Bremner etc

I quite like the quest for the holy grail in my hotel...

...coat in hands etc..

At the wedding reception of a certain message board proprieter that was held at the Grand hotel, I had a slash in the very posh urinal alongside Chris Eubank.
