False Hope

Bloody hell Albion. Now we're all convinced that we've got a GREAT chance of staying up, that we might just beat Swindon on Saturday and then go to Colchester and get something.

Why do they do it? I'm naturally negative, but even i'm kidding myself that we might do it.

And yet you just know now that there'll be a decent gate at Withdean on Saturday in the sunshine full of hope and expectation, and we'll lose one nil after a shocking performance, all but confirming that we're going down.

'Sake!

You are a miserable bastard.
So now we aren't even allowed to hope we stay up?

Part of me wishes we hadn't won tonight, so that we could put this whole sorry season to bed. But alas, there is a glimmer. We will almost definitely lose to Swindon though, so don't worry we can all put the season to bed on Saturday and start getting excited about the Ashes instead....

Surely it doesn't matter if we get carried away. We are supporters, not players.

If when we were doing well we didn't get over excited, what would be the point in supporting the Albion at all?

Enjoy the victory. We don't need to look at the bigger picture twenty minutes after a game we have won.

It's certainly prolonged the agony. I don't think any of us really believe Brighton will win four of the next six, but we had to win or we were down, and we did. And basically sent Hereford down, again, into the bargain.

Hope - is it a good thing, or a bad thing? It's like Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins in Shawshank.

I was getting used to the despair - its the hope that kills you. (Apologies for not knowing who said that originally but it was doubtless born during some relegation battle somewhere.

Sods law dictates that we probably will beat Swindon, start daring to believe that we can survive - and then the wheels will fall off again when we play a succession of teams with absolutely nothing to play for!

I know the feeling - i had it last year too - i just knew we wouldn't get in the playoff's, but we kept drawing (leeds/Forest) and the hope lingered on for weeks..all it needed was two losses, and April/May would be rosy, and Saturdays free again..

Different kettle o fish this time - we 'king NEED to win, not just 'that would be nice' want to win..

Must be something about the thread starter - seems i'm moaning..!
