Is a 60MPH road, am I right? Yet when I drive to/from the Amex, or just as a link from Lewes Road to Woodindean. If weather isn't good, I can understand driving ten under the limit. Fine.

But what compels some people to drive twenty/thirty under the limit all the way up/down the hill? It seems to make sure of a lot of traffic that can't overtake. It slows everyone down. To top that off, when the limit drops to 30MPH, they do forty plus. It's starting to niggle me, especially as beeping these cretins seems to make them go even slower. Are there any other spots around Sussex where drivers repeatedly tick you off?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 From The Argus)
Decembr 2011:
The effect of the Order would be to revoke the existing 40 mph speed limits on Old Shoreham Road, Falmer Road and Lewes Road and to introduce a 30mph speed limit on these lengths.

Seems it's not a 60mph road any more (if it was before), and those going 40 are speeding. Though, I don't use that road, so that link might not be relevant. It might only refer to the bottom half of the road that goes to rottingdean, not the top bit that goes to the stadium

Just out of interest, how old are you and what car do you drive? (nosey)

Those are the worst kind of drivers. Constantly do 40 in a 60 which causes traffic and people to overtake but then continue to do 40 when entering a 30.
These people should be shot.

60 mph is a maximum not a challenge. Perhaps they prefer to drive at a more reasonable speed and forego the minute that could be saved by going at 60 between Bexhill Road and the Stadium.

The 40 mile-an-hourers are one of the most annoying breeds of driver, you sit behind them for ages in a 60 zone and then they go off into the distance when you go through a village only for you to catch them up again when you get back into a 60.

What a pathetic thread !! Nobody is compelled to drive at 60 mph just because it is allowed. Personally, I love that drive over the hill from Woodingdean. It's one of the most scenic roads around Brighton, great views over The Downs, poppy fields to the East, Lewes in the distance, not to mention that wonderful sight of The Amex emerging from the valley as you approach. Whats wrong with driving at 30-40 mph to take in the views. What's the rush anyway. It only takes 2 or 3 minutes to drive from Woodingdean Crossroads to The Amex at 30 mph so what's the point of speeding and endangering other road users.
Impatience is not a quality worth dying for !!

40 would cause a bit of a problem. But 30?? Thats dangerous. Forcing others to slow down or overtake just to enjoy the scenery? Its worse than the bloke doing less then 10 on that road. You guessed it, a phone call and his kids are as important as the scenery, important enough to drive recklessly..

Anyone going more than 10% below the allowable speed limit, unless engaging in a sexual act should be hung. imho

50 to 60 is a reasonable speed on that road considering there are a couple of blind crests.

Incidentally, if any twonk has the cheek to toot me for driving too slow or decides to tailgate me, I just slow right down too.
