Call me old fashioned but it does get to me how grounds are named by the sponsor nowadays. Our stadium is Falmer. Emirates should be called Drayton Park, Leicester and bloody Walkers etc etc.

Am I the only this gets to or do others have similar thoughts sometimes?

I refer to it as 'Falmer' because that's what we fought for. Where were American Express during the Withdean years?

I think it will always be known as the Amex to the fans, even if we change sponsors.

Falmer sounds shit. Its a shit name.

The Amex is cooler than a lime Calippo.

I think we got pretty lucky with AMEX.

As corporate tie-ins and brand awareness goes (oh sorry I've been channeling my inner Barber, a lot today) it could have been a whole lot worse.

Reebok will always have the edge.
But you can stick your Emirates, Etihad, MaCain up your arse.

I'm more than happy to go to The Amex every other Saturday.

I don't think that's a fair comment. Yes, sponsors generate a lot of revenue and that's the case across pretty much all top two division clubs. However, it's set a precedent, a bar if you like, where now all clubs rely on the sponsorship money, or else be left way behind. The point was not to attack the sponsor or the cash, but to give thought to the identity of English football stadiums.

I always thought of it as Falmer until we started playing there but since then I've become quite used to calling it the Amex.
