According to one Red Top when Skint packed up sponsoring us they said ' Skints biggest star was Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim who is also the largest shareholder in Brighton' either he has aquired more shares or they were wrong.

I think they were using 'largest' to mean 'he's got quite a few shares and we actually know who he is and we are too lazy to research the truth and it sounds more interesting anyway'. I am fairly sure he has never been the largest shareholder - that has always, up until now anyway, been Dick Knight.

Its a red top - why do you have to even suspect they might be wrong? Of course they were.

ooops....

Like Titanic, I obviously have time on my hands.

What is interesting about the two different lists of shareholders is that it enables us to identify those people who have increased their shareholding in recent years.

Presumably these are the folk who are keeping the Club going.

The figures against each name are the number of EXTRA shares that were acquired between the publication of the two lists.

A Bloom 850,000
William John Brown 600,000
Harry Richard Knight 235,000
Pig City Incorporated Limited 200,000
Derek Leonard Chapman 110,750
J Gold 100,000
Kevin Ralph Patrick Griffiths 82,000
Raymond Alexander Bloom 35,000
Robert Leonard Pinnock 22,000
E David 10,000

Who is Michael Hastilow? I've done a quick Google search which suggests links to a firm of solicitors called Bosley & Co (based in Brighton)?

Any ideas?

Can one of the 'financial wizards' explain the significance, if any, of a 'a £30 million Convertible Loan note facililty' ?

Essentially, it's a capital raising vehicle similar to the issuing of new shares (I think).
An investor purchases a loan note from a company (BHAFC) on which interest is payable and and then has the right to have the loan amount (principle) converted into shares as repayment when the loan period expires.
The 'advantage' is that an investor gets the loan interest whereas if they purchased shares in BHAFC directly they'd be no dividend return at present.

So... someone is going to lend BHAFC £30m in cash... and we are going to pay interest on that (e.g. £30m at 5% is £1.5m a year) - and at the end of the deal, they can take £30m worth of shares instead of a cash repayment - which would make them a massive majority shareholder. Or presumably it could be several investors? Even so, the £30m would dwarf any existing share holdings.

Is this something to do with building the stadium? or is someone out there seriously going to invest massive amounts of cash in the playing side - and if so, do we have any idea who? and presumably they will want control of how the club is run etc...

Are all the amounts listed above in £'s... or is this £100,000 worth of shares, which is actually some other number of shares as per the previous lists?

Any of these scenarios seem possible.

Who knows but I'd have thought that any stadium investment would be in the Community Stadium Company? Maybe there's a way of amending the repayment terms at a later date so as the investor(s) receive shares in the CSC or you 'replace' the note(s) with new ones in the CSC?
Potential more interesting then some of the usual NSC twaddle eh?
