I just don't understand why it will take so long. Tell me if I am wrong but wasn't Reading's built in less than twelve months?

Yes, it could be built in 12 months, problem is the money isn't there. Most of it is coming from outside of the club (grants etc..)

First we have to get the finance package finalised. That would be delayed by any Judicial Review.

Then Brighton University have to put up their new buildings.

Then the existing Brighton University buildings have to be demolished.

Only then we can start construction of the Stadium.

I've basically resigned myself to the fact that we will be playing at Withdean for the rest of my natural life with no prospect of Premiership football. No prospect of attracting any players that Reading won't poach.

Anything more than that is a bonus!

Because there are uni buildings on or around the site that we are using. The uni are hardly going to say, go on lads knock our buildings down so you can facilitate your project and do not worry about replacing them, are they?

Actually in your world they probably are.

You obviously haven't seen what Universities are like when it comes to putting up new buildings, it usually happens very quickly. They like the red-brick image, buildings not just as somewhere to learn, but as a great big marketing tool to attract new students.

Surely a judicial review is unlikely given that it would be a financial risk that the NIMBYs couldn't afford?

It's been 7 years since we left the Goldstone.

I'd happily wait another 7. NOT

The only good thing I can say about this is that Brighton university has been knocking down many of its old buildings since last september. Two new blocks have been built and all the other rooms due to be knocked down have already been vacated in anticipation.

Not that exciting I know but this could certainly shave a little bit of time off the building of the stadium.
