Did England get a replay with the hand of god episode? Of course not, bad luck Ireland.

Yep, the world would be a better place if laws/ways of dealing with things didn't progress over time wouldn't it?

I suspect uncle Michel might quickly come out (probably through Blatter to look less corrupt) and pre-empt the FFF's response by saying he won't allow it - thus leaving them free to say that they would do but can't.

Depressingly, you're probably right.

Just to be clear, FIFA are quite right to NOT start setting dopey precedents by ordering a replay of the game. But if France offered it..."Fair Play" should dictate that FIFA let it happen.

Trouble is, we already know which team FIFA would far rather be there.

The way Ireland are going on anyone would think that they would be in the WC if Henry hadnt handballed it!

They seem to be forgetting that there was the small matter of a penalty shootout still to come!

I did like that during the press confrence a reporter asked the cheif exec of FAI if they were offering to replay an earlier group game when Ireland won with a contraversal penalty, it completley threw him which was quite funny!

I did mention on the Henry thread that we'd probably have lost the shootout anyway! But thats not really the point is it - its a lottery and we were denied a place in it...

Point taken about the Georgia penalty, but a) it was a shocking decision but it wasn't cheating, and b) didn't have any long-term impact on world cup qualification for any side.

No, the point is that Ireland LOST and the whiney little bitches at the FAI need to deal with that and move on.

Crap. Decisions. Happen.

Our FA has written a letter outlining the problem and requesting a discussion over a replay.

If it'd happened to England, the Sun would have printed the officials addresses this morning, and they'd probably already have gone into hiding with their young families.

I know who I'd rather be.

Can I just point out to those too dumb to realise - Michel Platini is the head of UEFA not FIFA. This was a qualifying match for the FIFA World Cup so any decision has got nothing to do with him.

Should France ask for a replay for the match against Argentina in 1978 where they were blatantly robbed by a dodgy ref or how about 1982 against West Germany when one of their players was almost crippled by the German goalie?

No, the ref's decision should be final - that is sport.

"Oh look at us fluffy Oyrish. We're not loike da English ya know"

What a load of f***ing SHITE. I remember Ronald Koeman hauling down David Platt in Rotterdam with the score at 0-0 and Platt clean through on goal. Result: free kick outside the area, Koeman despite being last man, allowed to stay on the pitch.

20 minutes later and that same Dutch player thumped in a 20 yard freekick and we missed out on the USA world cup.

How the Oyrish (who qualified) laughed! And how the English FA acted like stroppy teenagers "asking" the KVB to replay the game. Erm, NOT.

At the end of the day, the FAI are acting like whiney tossers, and you fans are as bad trying to justify it.

Why not shut the feck up and deal with it. LIKE THE ENGLISH DID.

The way I look at it- it was disapointing to go out in extra time of a playoff match after doing well to come second in a fairly tricky group, but thats just the way it is

Yes, it was a handball by Henry but I don't think there is any need for the game to be replayed

Maybe you should have. Its not an issue of bad refereeing decisions though, its an issue of cheating. That game was pretty incident-filled as I recall, I'm sure Holland either had a penalty shout turned down or a goal wrongly disallowed for offside or something.

Its upto you. I feel horrendously cheated in a very obvious way that the whole world saw, and it really was clear cut that that particular incident made the different between the sides. Personally I'm glad we're making a big deal out of it cos it is a big deal.

It's a matter of LIFE. Deal with it.

I don't take that opinion, but these are cynical times to which you have been born into.

I think it would send out a very important message if something was done about it, even if that just means Henry being banned from some of the World Cup games.

The problem with this, is that is has sent out a very very public message that cheats prosper in the world of football. l know this actually happens every week, but not every week is the worlds media watching.

The end result is the same though, bad refereeing or cheating CHEATS a team out of qualifying. Chelsea vs Barcelona in this years Champion's League semi-final. I reckon you are only suggesting there is a difference because of your bias to ireland?

Having witnessed the 'hatred' of any thing English a few times after visting Ireland (shame as its a fantastic place) I have very very little sympathy and its hard to swallow when most of them either support Man U or Liverpool. One of my best mates actually lives there and has to put up with the constant barrage of anti-English sentiment every time England play on TV.

Its wrong what happend, but its happend, football at the highest level is corrupt, has been for years and thats what needs addressing.

From what I gather Irelands economy is knackered after buying lock stock, into the EU dream and not qualifying for the World Cup has added to their problems.

It will be interesting to see what happens if France play England in the World Cup, I guarantee many will still want England to lose.

The England fans will boo Henry and call him a cheat and he will then inevitably score.
