Facebook help please

On behalf of my wife.... When she uses face book on the iPad an annoying list of friends is on the right hand side, it covers 30% of the page, when logging in on the web it's not there!!,

I have worked out how to close chat but it still leaves the list there only greyed out,

Any ideas how I can remove the list from view for her please""

If you press and hold the Facebook icon on the iPad until it shakes, then tap the small X in the corner.

Hold the iPad portrait, instead of landscape, and it should disappear.
