I was at Wembley yesterday to see Whitehawk's conquerors in the Vase, pick up the trophy, beating AFC Totton 3-1

I've gotta tell you it was the best value for money I have had for £10 spent on football for years.

Weather reminiscent of May 1983

Unbelievable stadium. Really excellent and easy to put all the complaints about the cost and waiting behind you.

2/3 of the crowd in blue and white. My Albion shirt and cap didnt go unnoticed, especially amongst the Argyle and Saints fans.

Jason Dodd was there

The match was all attacking and excitement. Thrills and spills, no prima donnas, no wanky refereeing, and the whole crowd sportingly cheering throughout the game.

If you didn't go, you missed a bloody good day out

We went as well.

Paddy plays cricket with a couple of the Totton players. It was a pretty cheap, enjoyable family day out.

And despite what the Wembley planners will tell you, not every seat in the stadium is covered/protected from the rain.

I went as well.

Just don't get a ticket for Tier 5 if you suffer from vertigo.

But its a bit better than withdean:lolol:

and they were all really good doals too, especially truro' second ( reminiscent of ricky villa against man city in 81).

starry - did Shane Warne go - Brauchensweiller (the keeper)said he promised the great fat leggie some tickets

I didn't see him so not sure if he was there or not, but I know he was definitely given tickets.

Made a spur of the moment decision to go yesterday morning so my mate and I took our 6 year old sons with us for a day at Wembley. As my boy had only ever been to Withdean it was a bit of a difference in size and facilities!

We got seats near the front of the top tier and it was a great view - just like watching on TV in some respects. At half time we walked back the 40+ rows to the back of the stand. Whilst it's very high up, the stand is quite steep so you're not too far from the action. However, if you're unfit then it's a bloody hard slog up to the top.

As for the complaints about costs, the pies and burgers are expensive but I didnt think the beer (£3.50), soft drinks (£2.20) or sweets (90p for a king size Mars bar) were that bad compared to other places.

Probably the saddest part of the day was the realisation that two teams of County League standard put on a much better quality match than many of the recent ones I've paid much more for at Withdean:nono:
