Tomorrow the FA needs to deal with this matter firmly. If you get a 3 match ban for a Red, anything less for this will show nothing but weakness. He's still a child
I have a feeling though the child will get with a fine which equates to a few hours salary..

It was hardly the end of the world was it, A bit of swearing at a camera - Funnily enough if a Bolton or Blackpool player did i feel most of the country wouldn't even know about it. Typical anti Utd rubbish again

Totally wrong if it had been a Bolton or Blackpool player he would be charged and if found guilty suspended. Will the same happen to Rooney sadly probably not.

You have to take strong action of his rant yesterday. Not anti utd but wearing that shirt comes responsibility and he has to be put in line for his own sake.

The FA needs to do something. It's embarassing. Does not happen in other sports. That said, it's sad that we have to treat players, and managers, as though they're 10 year olds.

Come on it wasn't THAT bad. Stupid and unnecessary yes, but he and many others have done far worse and escaped punishment. I'm all for taking a hardline with players but this is being blown out of proportion simply because it's Rooney, I feel.

Its nothing to do with Man United at all, its about respect and professionalism. First it was with England, now its his club. A bit is discipline might make him grow up a bit

A bit of swearing, big deal. Far more important things to worry about than what has happened with Rooney.

I think Fergie will get shot of him come the summer anyway
That was on the cards from the moment re signed his new contract had he not signed it he was worth nothing to United they can now sell him for most of the money they paid for him so it was good business to give into his demand for an enormous wage per week.

heaven forfend that the players should mimick the fans.

not double standards by those who protest surely?

perhaps parents could use the furore that has arisen as a discussion point with their children - for example, whether self discipline should be self imposed or must it be dependent on authorities to determine and regulate on their behalf?

Isn't foul and abusive language a straight red card?
So if the referee has not put it in his report then the FA should be able to retrospectively give him a red card for it. Like an elbow or punch that the referee missed.

Indeed. Law 12, fouls and misdemeanours list as one of the sending off offences as "using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures", but rooney has a history of using such language, directly to referees (Graham Poll quite famously) without repercussion.

As do 99% of professional footballers, it should be pointed out.

With the FA currently running the Respect campaign sadly Rooney's actions of Foul & Abusive Language merit a red card and hence a ban.

Whether it is to a camera, ref, player or fan the players are Role Models (I know we have had threads on this before) and players need to be accountable for there behaviour. I think the FA have only one course of action if they are to work within the Rules and ban him for 3 games.

So sad quality player but a complete cock.

Surely Rules are Rules, with technology he has been proven guilty of Foul & Abusive.

Drugs, sorry not for me. Something a bit more constructive wouldn't go a miss.
