Some good news from the railways to start the week :clap2:

'Extra trains planned to cut congestion

Train bosses say journeys from Brighton to Gatwick and London will get much easier in December.

Major changes will be made to the Southern timetable as the Gatwick Express service is extended to Brighton.

Extra services and seats will be provided for passengers travelling on the busy Brighton mainline from December 15.

But commuter groups fear the changes might not alleviate congestion on the route.

Southern says the overall result will be an increase in seats into London during weekday morning peak periods.

The majority will be achieved through the extension of Gatwick Express services which will run to and from Brighton during the weekday morning and evening peak periods.

Southern will be adding a new style of train to its fleet to provide the extension service.

Other changes include an additional 8.17am non-stop Gatwick Express service from Gatwick to Victoria, from Monday to Friday, more seats and services between Redhill and London Bridge and a new service from Hassocks and Preston Park to London Victoria.

There will also be improved services between Horsham and Chichester and London Victoria.

The Watford Junction to Brighton service will be withdrawn and there will be an additional morning peak train from East Grinstead to Victoria.

There will also be extra evening peak time trains from London Bridge to the east coastway and faster journey times between Brighton and London Victoria on Sundays. '
