I thought it was done well last year too, although the Palace fans kicked up a right fuss about the metal wall and having to go home a different direction.
Indeed. All those saying the Met handled it pretty well last year are well wide of the mark - the Palace supporters absolutely slaughtered the Met after that one. And that metal wall was completely absurd, even if it was quite funny.

After 15 minutes or so & the ground empty can't we just hop onto the pitch & proceed in an orderly fashion out of one of the open gates, no'one will notice will they?

Kettling (also known as containment or corralling) is a police tactic for controlling large crowds during demonstrations or protests.

At Selhurst it won't be a protest, or demonstration, it will be a game of football, that sadly will attract some undesirable elements (pathetic morons). The Police will be doing no such thing as kettling, they will be endevouring to ensure our safety by stopping us leaving the area/ground at the same time as the Palace supporters.

It's called common sense really, in light of some of the likely behaviour of some of those present (on both sides). If the police let everyone out at the same time there is a high likelehood of trouble, and would almost certainly mean decent, civilised supporters being in the middle of it.

Until the people who cause this sort of problem, and perpetuate it year on year are either eradicated, or they grow up, this is going to happen every time. Why is it that we can leave games at pretty much every other ground in the country and mingle in with the opposition supporters with barely an incident, yet for this game we are stuck in a time warp?

Isn't this The Police trying to say that they can cope with a 3 o'clock kick off & that they can't in the same breath?

They normally always keep the home fans in the ground which is quite despicable considering we're the majority, so why would they keep the away fans in for another 90 minutes? I'd be amazed if they kept you in at all.

You might not realise it considering how Pro-Brighton it is, but The Argus really is a shocking newspaper.

The Argus was pro the residents opposing the new ground until the residents lost & they swapped sides instantly

It was over two hours when we took 6,000 for the 5-0. I got back home (about 5 miles away in Wimbledon) at 8.30pm. Horrendous day.

This was one of my 4 from 800 'leave when beaten' & at 4-0 we were straight out onto a fast train south & having a drink at Brighton Station around 5.30....

So many of your comments refer to people leaving early. You're so f***ing boring.

Hey that's not very nice, is it? I have plenty of other subjects to ramble on about as well, I didn't realise I mentioned people leaving early more than anything else. I'll bear it in mind.

I think it makes sense to keep the home fans in. They don't have as far to go, and are much more likely to hang around the vicinity afterwards. They should keep the home fans behind for 15-20 minutes after the final whistle and get all the away fans out, and on the trains home. And that goes for at the Amex as well, it makes much more sense.

Indeed. All those saying the Met handled it pretty well last year are well wide of the mark - the Palace supporters absolutely slaughtered the Met after that one. And that metal wall was completely absurd, even if it was quite funny.

Well from a Brighton point of view I thought they handled it well. I hardly saw a Palace fan all evening.

I don't know why people are getting so worried about. I heard that gullys girls and the palace cheerleaders are going to go at it for an hour with marital aids.

its pretty sad when a newspaper resorts to such rumour and trouble stiring just to make a story. if you'd seen that on a forum by poster Andrew, you'd think thats bollocks how can the police determine in advance what action will be required, nor announce it in advance, shirley? why not apply the same logic here?
