Expectations

After all the doom and gloom of the last 24 hours I would like a simple question. Pre season did anyone expect us to be in a better position with more points than we are now?

Personally I thought we would be where Rotherham are and I think it's close to miraculous that we have 19 points already.

Not miraculous, but a pretty good effort. We could have had more points. I think that we have all identified the one main area that the team needs strengthening in. We have no choice but to be patient.

Are we in a better position than expected? Not really. On the evidence of some of our opponents, I would actually say that we could and should be a couple of places higher. I still believe that we are finding our feet. A place in the Championship next season is still in our own hands.

I appreciate that some of our opponents have been pretty poor (especially Gillingham) but are we really not higher up the table than you thought we would be pre-season?
Having scraped through the play off semi final and played pretty poorly at times last season I thought we would be in the relegation zone all season. That we are 5 points above it at this stage of the season is a superb achievement. (especially considering we have by far the smallest budget in the division).
It just worries me that people have unrealistic expectations of the team because of our great start. I think we will stay up but it's going to be a hell of a battle. Looking at some f the threads on here on Friday some people seemed to think we only had to turn up to beat Crewe.
