David Gilmour's armpit
I would have put money on that free kick going in - we excel at conceding quick goals (just after ours) and usually from set pieces.
What are we doing so wrong, that we used to do so right?
Continually shooting ourselves in the foot. That said, Everton do deserve the half-time lead.....but.....jeez

Thank goodness we have such a talented squad we don't need to bring anymore quality signings in before the window shuts...

Anyway bring Veltman on, he can't do any worse.

If our defenders can't defend aerially we need a bigger keeper- simply cannot be argued against.
Either the defenders can compete or the GK can come out and claim- we have neither.
As a unit, this season, it is shocking.

It's alright, we'll hold it as it is until 65-70mins, then stick on some fresh legs upfront from the bench to run at their tired defence and turn it around.

...oh.

Not a terrible first half, but poor by our recent standards.

We quite clearly find it very difficult to play in wet conditions.

Most promising play came immediately after the goal, but Everton have been (and are on paper) the better side.

We are still in it, but will need some Potter magic to get something today.

Agree with al of this. We seem to be struggling in these Conditions and our football brains and decisions have been poor (see March giving away a needless free kick) - ridiculous defending from the set piece AGAIN - we just let them have a free header. Maybe Ryan should do more?

What the **** is wrong with our defending?

We've got Webster playing his 4th Prem game on the left of a 3, We've got White playing his 4th Prem game on the right of a 3, We've got Dunk playing his 4th Prem game in the middle of that 3? Sometimes things take time?

Bloody hell, how frustrating.

Second best for most of the half, Pickford gifts us an undeserved equaliser a few minutes before half time and then we go and throw it away. Again. Right at the end of the half. Again. Just after scoring. Again. From a set piece. Again. Jesus wept. Probably again.

If we'd gone in one nil down I would be ok. We haven't deserved anything from the half but it's just the giving the game away in the same way that's infuriating.

Anyway, Everton look really good. Best team we've played so far. It's a really impressive job Ancelotti has done with them. On the ball they move the ball quickly and slickly across and down the field with ease and defensively they seem to have extra players. Whenever we got to within 35 yards of their goal we had no space to play at all.

We've massively shot ourselves in the foot which is incredibly annoying on two counts:

1)Everton need no help from us, they're excellent.

2) Even when the footballing gods try and help us out we throw it back in their faces! It's gong to be a long old season if we don't take our chances when we're the better team and refuse to capitalise on gifts when we're not.

Lets get Lallana on for either Trossard or Connolly and try and get a bit more control in midfield.

the art of defending set pieces is now obviously "the lost art"

cant remember the last time the set piece defense has been so poor so consistently , maybe we need a specialist defensive coach ....oh forgot we have Bruno although it was not his strongest asset

Last season, or the one before that, or the one before that.
