Confident of being able to source tickets for 1st game of the season Away to Everton before flying back to Oz two days later.
Been fortunate enough to of been the beneficiary of quite a number of excellent NSC travel recommendations over the past 20 years or so and am now seeking the same for a 4-day trip driving up from from Brighton to Liverpool and back.
Recommendations sought for a city centre/good area hotel in Liverpool for the Thursday & Friday night plus a one-night stop in a nice village/country town on the way up on the Wednesday and also on the way back on Saturday evening.
Any suggestions much appreciated, thank you.

We stayed in a Premier Inn in Birkenhead, near the river and very close to the mersey rail station. It was 4 mins under the river and you were in the centre of Liverpool. It was quite a but cheaper than hotels the other side of the river!

Boutique/good quality in the city , decent county pub in the countryside - cost not that much of an issue
If shopping is a priority the Hilton is right next to Liverpool One and opposite Albert Dock for restaurants etc.

For more boutique try

Depending on your budget - Hope Street Hotel is very good
Seconded. Very nice hotel, walking distance to city centre. Moose cafe over the road is great for breakfast/brunch as well.

Wow, love that place. We were in there as the Albion won at Smellhurst (Muzza & Knockaert goals), glued to the football on our phones. The best American pancakes ever.

So for the country stop off either on the way there or back, the Punchbowl is lovely and about halfway. I live near enough and can recommend it. The food is excellent.

Lapworth is your typical sleepy village with a cricket pitch, a retired colonel plus a national trust place down the road type place

I’ve booked a Premier Inn in Warrington, 30 mins away, and a just park on someone’s driveway 5 mins from Goodison. I’ve got a ‘Premier Plus’ room so apparently I get a fridge and a bottle of water for the extra money

Mate that is spot on !
Have booked a night on the way up.
We've been to nearby Blenheim Palace before but close by is Packham House and Baddesley Clinton to take a look at in the afternoon.
Spoilt for choice in Liverpool it would seem, just needing somewhere on the way back now, preferably to the north of Birmingham - want to get to a place before their kitchen closes.

Baddesley Clinton is nice and there are loads of walks around it. My favourite one also takes in the Navigation and the Boot which are also lovely local pubs. It takes you through the woods at Baddesley which normally have no one in them. Nice part of the world.
