BHASVIC to queue for cup final replay tickets, along with 50% of the other students. Only difference was myself and mate Pat decided to be up front about it, whereas everyone else forged sick notes.

It got quite nasty and it looked like they wanted to kick me out. They had a long enough list of excuses, but the final one was my late arrival on the week before my hearing. I was "saved" by a potato lorry that had overturned in Rottingdean. They chose not to believe this excuse, which I was able to corroborate. I ended up with decent grades, so they probably made the right decision in the end.

GCSE French oral exam, to go to the re-arranged York game in 96. I would of failed it anyway, so was worth it to go see Zeke Rowe.

Missed my step-sister's wedding back in may 1988 to watch us get promoted to the then 2nd division. Anyway she got married again this season and this time i was able to make it.

I've done that - in my case it was York away. She packed up and left within a few days.

I also missed a mate's wedding. Well, he did get married on the day of Brighton's first game in Div 1. Mind you, when Arsenal's fourth goal went in, I did wonder whether we'd made the right choice.

The last 30 minutes of an A-level to get to the Wembley replay in 1983. Half the people sitting it did the same.

1973–74, myself Gwylan and a few others bunked off to see us lose 4-0 at home in the FA Cup to Walton & Hersham in the FA Cup first round. I seem to remember some story about Brian Clough fighting with Eric Sykes after the game, probably apocryphal but funny nonetheless.

The match was in the middle of the 3 day week thing with power cuts etc and took place in the afternoon because they couldn't guarantee floodlight power. I still remember walking through Hove Park on a Wednesday afternoon at about 1.30pm thinking how bizarre it all was.

Not exactly a game, but I skipped a day's work at the Wimbledon dole office when they thoughtlessly put tickets on sale for the Cup final replay on a Monday morning. Got interviewed about it the next day, and hoped honesty would be the best policy, since the boss was a Geordie and he would surely understand how important the game was. Did he heck! I had to resign before he fired me. Was going to leave anyway, it just happened a bit quicker than expected.

Then we lost the game 4-0.

But I was there! and no-one can take that away from me.

I remember the game but I wasn't one of those bunking off. There must have been a good reason why I stayed because I remember bunking off to go to Brighton races several times and trips to the cricket too.

I phoned in sick for the replayed York Game in 1996. Oh skived off school with parental permission ( a ghost town apparently) for Cup Final replay.

Was off to Luton away and rang my football manager (complete and utter shite) to say i won't be training as I'm "resting" my injured ankle for the following days game.

Great day out, but, he found out, yet played :lolol:

Oh and I missed a "family-friends" wedding for the Play-off final in 2004. Happy Days

Many times on a wednesday I used to walk in at lunch time after watching the Albion on a tuesday night. I also remember missing an exam in year 10 that counted towards my science GCSE and my form tutor going absolutley nuts at me when I used the exquse of " ... but I was watching Brighton last night". I think he said something along the lines of Micky Adams isn't going to do your GCSE science for you ..!
