Well, having watched the first semi-final I'm blown away by the high standard. It's almost as if Terry Wogan's resignation in protest at the farce the competition had become has shocked it back into life.

The UK finally has a decent entry although because half of Eastern Europe is racist the girl will do well to break into the Top 8. Even France have wheeled out major chanteuse Patricia Kaas and the Germans Dita Von Teese, while the Danes have enlisted Ronan Keating as songwriter.

Norway are an incredible 6/4 to win the thing already, I've never known such short odds.

There's a decent totty quotient this year, with Iceland and Romania particularly impressive.

My favourite song of tonight - Finland, a toe-tapping belter!

Looking forward to this. I have finally got round to arranging a Eurovision house party. We have an Armenian and a Greek in attendance and apparently they are on a par with Palace and Brighton or River Plate and Boca Juniors when it comes to loathing one and other.

I love eurovision!!! They're bringing in judges scoring again aren't they? I heard it was 50:50 between judges vote and public vote - could mean we may get more points!

...I am worried that Graham Norton won't be camp enough to do the whole thing justice!

It's a great idea to read out viewer text messages after each song because often other people are thinking EXACTLY the same thing as me - re tonight with the Geri Halliwell, Bono and Robin Hood lookalikes.

I stopped watching Eurovision after they stopped having rock classics like 'Boom-Bang-a-Bang' in it - or was one of those 'Bangs' a 'Gang' (it was Lulu singing it!) - too many Johnny Foreigners these days.....................

UK are 3-1 to finish in the bottom five.
That is surely the greatest bet ever.

14-1 to win apparently :/ have SkyBet noticed we're the most hated country in Europe?

Funny how we are the most hated in country in Europe but the one all the migrants want to get into.

We won't get into the Top 8 because the song is abysmal and doesn't suit Eurovision whatsoever.

I love a night of Euro trash, but I am forfeiting this for the Specials at Brixton on Saturday. Hopefully it will have an edited version on i player and I can watch it prior to hearing the result.

Won't be the same without Wogan, who are the rock and arty acts, they are always my favorites.

even the website practically says "she wont win oh well she'll 'be great later in life' :salute:" I doubt judges will do much different to be honest, I'll certainly miss Wogan getting drunk
