Been in France a few days now.
All motorway toll booths have armed police and fast looking undercover cars
Parked with 4 tough looking guys in each.
Arras today also had armed police in the market square

Does appear to be the case that any event has massive police and army presence. Was at a local event in Cabourg in Normandy and there were road blocks, armed police and soldiers all over the event. Was really nothing more than a summer fete. Very noticeable presence all round.

My OH is a Disney addict so go quite often

They have had armed police outside the station for 5 years +

Its normally as a deterrent to sellers outside the station as they do not own it

Disney are obviously not too concerned as the Village is still open and that is directly opposite the station, I know nowhere is safe but as themeparks go they have been scanning all bags + body scans now for a few years now and compared to other theme parks such as Alton Towers etc are a lot safer

Sounds to me like someone has left something unattended

And when I say armed I don't mean side arms ( pistols) I mean big rifles...and flak jackets

Not disputing that at all, we get the train in so don't do the motorways

I just meant heavily armed police at Disney itself is nothing new and has been happening well before the attacks started in France

Weve had heavily armed soldiers patrolling with police in the malls and metro system for a couple of months here. First time I noticed it was running for a metro, jumping in through the doors and finding myself face to face with 4 armed soldiers. A bit unnerving.

The gendarme have always patrolled in combat gear with rifles.

There hasn't been a significant difference in the visible levels of security personnel over the last two years while I've been in working in Paris.

They'd been told there was an incident at the train station at the park by an employee but assured everything was ok.
