:wrong:

ESPN and ESPN HD will be available on Virgin Media when the channel launches on 3rd August 2009.

XL customers will get the channels subsidised by Virgin Media in a similar agreement to the one they had with Setanta.

ESPN Classic will also soon be available to VM customers.

Not very good for us Sky lovers, although I've just e-mailed a complaint asking why those with Sky World or even Sky HD are not getting a similar deal

I wouldn't be suprised if Virgin had shares in ESPN's parent company Disney.

Blimey.

Makes me want to cancel my sky sports (hd) contract right now. shitty premier league games in hd! for free (not actually free as the xl package already costs pretty close to the price sky customers pay for sky + sky sports, which is far far better.

As long as I can watch the 20 and 30 year-old old football, rugby and cricket on the proper ESPN channel i'm happy

Disney make and have more money than BSkyB.

No shit sherlock, but it isn't unheard of whereby large companies have shareholdings in other similarly large companies.
What other reason can there be meaning that sky viewers have to pay whereas Virgin customers don't.

Well VM are paying for XL customers to have the channel in a subsidised deal. I don't know how much that is but those on M or the L package will still have to pay a £10 which is the same on BSkyB.

Also, VM are selling all the channels that they owe (Bravo, Challenge, Living etc.) so they won't be investing any money into TV channels at the minute.

For customers of Virgin Media's XL TV pack, both ESPN and ESPN HD will be available at no extra cost - and ESPN classic, showing sporting moments of the past, will be bundled in free of charge, too.

:) :)
