If the plans go ahead to scrap some domestic county cricket and start with this franchised twenty20 bollocks to rival the Indian Premier League would you actually even bother with cricket anymore?... Can't say I would... It can go f**k itself.

4 out of 18 counties have already welcomed this EPL (English Premier League) shite already (Surrey, Middlesex, Lancashire & Hampshire - All 4 grounds would have a team surprise surprise)

In fact the 9 teams would be:
Newcastle
Manchester
Leeds
Nottingham
Birmingham
Cardiff
North London
South London
Southampton

All I can say is... C'mon South London, Oops, I mean, what a CROCK OF SHIT!

Where would the Sussex players go - or are we not even involved?

It would probably be the same as the IPL, every player goes into an auction and gets bid on, so theorectically speaking you could have Prior playing for Manchester and Wright playing for Cardiff or something...

Crock of f***ing shit indeed.

Problem is some greedy bastards see money in it with TV rights and big advertising campaigns making it a replacement for football for the summer hence, in most cases, cities being the named team.

Twenty20 does, for me, have a place in the sport, and very effective it is to.

The problem is that it became virtually an overnight success, and the avaricious bastards that run the game in this country's eyes lit up like a Christmas tree, thinking 'great, some money. Let's milk this cash cow dry while we can', rather than have anything even remotely resembling any kind of long-term strategy.

They will kill the game - or rather, this version of it - stone dead. Why? Because, like the ivory towered ex-public schoolboy airheads they are at the top of the game, they have no understanding of the concept of loyalty than sports fans - especially cricket and football fans - have in their LOCAL team.

If there were, say, 30 or 40 teams over two divisions, it might make it more palatable - as more people would have a more local team. But NINE? Which fuckwit thought of that?

Any other form of cricket is going to seriously struggle soon. This EPL will need a worldwide 'window' when everything else is forgotton about. India already have a window. All the other test nations will soon be demanding their window leaving no room for any 'proper' cricket. 20/20 is a novelty that is starting to wear off from overkill.

It's based on the nine international grounds.

I understand that, but why do they need to do that?

In which case, where are Durham, Southampton and Bristol on that list?

southampton is under the title 'southampton'

chester-le-street (not durham) is newcastle, which i find STRANGE

and bristol is under cardiff, which i find STRANGER

Chester-Le-Street
Rose Bowl

Not sure about Bristol, since Cardiff is supposed to be one presumably they are the ones that miss out. I guess they're just copying the IPL format as close as possible, although I'm with everyone else and not sure why they SHOULD.

bristol must be roughly the same size as cardiff? can't be far off anyway......

just call the team 'bristol'

infact, its a shit idea

Twenty20 is going to RUIN cricket one day

Didnt know Wales had got a England test match

Is that the England side run by the England & Wales Cricket Board, and which has had many Welshmen in the team before?

FWIW, they are obviously trying to copy the IPL format. The aim clearly is to create a seperate competition from any of the county game; there would be no way to have an auction of players if you had the counties (as they are) involved. If they want to attract a load of the worlds best players, it HAS to be outside of the county game.
