Those fucktards at Eon are on a lovely little earner. I moved out in April, gave them a meter reading, paid the balance and closed the account.

I was paying £80 a MONTH to heat a ONE BEDROOM flat. If that wasn't disgusting enough I today had a letter to my new address saying I owe for the last TWO months. I gave them my forwarding address when I closed my account - so how the hell they think I'm still at the old address is beyond me. But they are happily charging me regardless and now have a hefty final notice plus various incurred charges totalling a significant sum. They are totally incapable, totally clueless thieving BASTARDS.

I've spent the last hour and a half on hold (0345 number) and then got cut off because the call center closed.

Now I have to wait until Monday to give those pricks a piece of my mind.

If you're considering going with them - don't.

Thanks for listening,

/rant

Think they have been mentioned on watchdog more than once for similar occurrences when customers change address or supplier

I've been with EON for the past 7 years without any problem whatsover and found them very helpful. I'm sorry you have a problem but it can happen with any company. How they sort it out is a different matter.

Same thing happened to me when we bought our first house in 1997, only with British Gas. Took months to get sorted (with them threatening us with court action along the way) and we ended up with £50 compensation. Never used them since.

The energy industry is a cartel. I don't think changing supplier makes a whole lot of difference.

It can happen at any energy company.

Best thing to do is ensure at any change of tenancy or change of supplier, you make a note of the meter reading as you leave the property or on the date of changing supplier. I would always recommend calling on the day or when prompted and providing this. Also do this if you get any estimated reading for regular bill cycle's.

Most will sort things out for you without much issue but sound like Biscuit is getting the run around. Biscuit, was you previous property a new build? Also was it just electric? £80 seems to be a large volume of usage for a 1 bedroom property.

Was with edf until I moved. Gave final meter readings, reckoned I owed them about 600 pounds. Sent them three letters now with my new address and attempts to pay off my debt. Still nothing some 8 months on. They can now forget it.

Don't f*** about talking to them they will just give you the run-around, Get in touch with the ombudsman or ruling body and deal with it through them. You'd be surprised how quickly things get sorted out with the right leverage.

Had similar problem with British gas when i moved, dd debit changed to new address but British gas did not change their records so my dd payments were being taken for my old address This was finally resolved 8 months later when a B g area manager came to my new property.I received all the money back that i had payed them since moving and also clear the account on my new property.

The best company for energy is Utility Warehouse which is backed up by the WHICH magazine! Dont worry i'm not touting for business and wont give out my website just letting you know who is best! A work colleague of mine who is with them asked me to sort his mum out who was with EON and managed to save her approx £360 on what she was quoted for the year! I think thats a pretty good saving on just energy without the other savings on the other services to

We get our phone and Internet through UW. Even when we had friends staying from Australia who were calling home the bill only went up by a few quid every month. Seem very good, no increases in the 2 years we've used them. Just wish we could change our other services through them. (renting so we're tied in to who the landlord wants)

A friend of ours works for UW and gave us quotes a couple of months ago but we couldn't save anything.
