I don't think a 24 team tournament really works and it needs to be 8, 16 or 32 teams really

would a 32 team Euro's really be out of the question? The top 8 sides that didn't qualify are (excluding Russia):

Sweden
Wales
Norway
Greece
Rep. Ireland
Finland
Iceland
North Macedonia

and they are all ranked higher than Georgia who have hardly disgraced themselves in this tournament

my two worries are:

-I think a lot of countries would struggle to host a 32 team tournament. This tournament has been great having it in 1 country and I always prefer there to be 1 host nation
-qualifying would be a bit of a farce with 32 of the 55 teams qualifying for the tournament
I prefered the previous format. Tournament flew by and was done in 3 weeks. Now we have 36 games to eliminate just 8 nations at the start.

Only 3 possibly scenarios now I believe, none involve group F and we need Hungary to go out to play an E team instead of Netherlands?

It's irrelevant, we will either fail, or limp through, then fail.

It is possible we limp through again, then fail . . .again.

WHat generally happens is the failure occurs when England face a 'half decen't or 'well coached' team

Whoever it is on Sunday, it's bound to be another 0-0 followed by a defeat on penalties.
Agree this idiot in charge could make Queen look a shit band

The one thing Southgate is good at is getting great draws in these tournaments and it looks like it's continuing.

All the best teams in the other half of the draw.

Whoever it is on Sunday, it's bound to be another 0-0 followed by a defeat on penalties.
'Arry said that the games are tough from now on and we might have to go through via penalties.

ie: 'play for penalties lads' will be Southgate's motivational speech.

Balls, I messed up my earlier update.

If Czechia (or whoever finishes 3rd in group F, could also be Türkiye or Georgia) go through and Hungary go out,
we play 3E which could be any one of four.

If 3F and Hungary go through, putting out 3E,
or if 3F go out,
we play 3D, Netherlands.

We can no longer play 3F.

5 possibles: Netherlands, Romania, Belgium, Slovakia, Ukraine.

My brain hurts.

First match of the tournament I’ve watched… and almost certainly the last. Simply not feeling it this year. Bigger fish to fry wherever I look and the truth of the matter is that Brighton matters to me much more than the national team.
