Stuart Binny come in for Rohit Sharma, Jadeja is the lone spinner, while Bhuvneshwar replaces Zaheer from India's last Test XI. Alastair Cook wanted to bat first too. Feeling quite pleased that I called Stokes for Jordan in the immediate aftermath of the Sri Lanka series.

Jordan will get a go though, there's no way the 4 seamers will stay fit for the whole series.

The result of the whole thing is entirely dependent on whether India's fantastic but inexperienced batting can get through the new ball against the English seamers. Not having a specialist spinner is a bad, bad move from England.

What price can I get on Alastair Cook for man of the series? India's seam attack shouldn't worry him if he is patient and he's already proved that he is a fine player of spin.

Seems like both India and England are teams in transition, with a good smattering of inexperienced players in both camps. Should be a good series this.

With Prior and Dhoni batting at 7, it looks like the bowlers will have a pretty tough time!

Great one-handed catch to his left by Matt Prior... Jimmy comes round the wicket... Dhawan knicks one off a good length.

33-1

Bad judgement from the batsman, he should have left Dhawan alone.

Good to see Ben Stokes continuing the trend of sportsmen having RUBBISH tattoos on their arms.

Oh Dear, why do we prepare wickets like these?

Greed.

They dont want a green top with a bit of moisture that god forbid only lasted 3 and a half days.

There's plenty of talk that at the Test venues an old fashioned green tinged English wicket is a thing of the past due to the amazing drainage systems they have to install these days in order to minimise rain delays.

Great news for England's high quality spin attack.
