Cough ! We have played a divided Iran team, a US team that has no talent and, Wales. If we don't trip up against Senegal next round we will get pasted the next.

This ^^ thread would welcome your negativity 👍

Edit - the thread in the link, not actually this thread!

Brighton factually.....
Wales is a tiny nation yes but I'm surprised with just how poor they've been this tournament.
really, they struggled to get out of their qualifying group and jammy arsed their way through the play offs…
their first team would struggle in the championship.

As for England, I’m not getting carried away just yet, I’ve seen too many false dawns.
That, and we have not played anyone of any worth yet, Gareth’s track record against a team that shakes it up, is not great, when it matters….

Well played tonight, but let’s see eh

England get through the group that should have been the "group of death" based on FIFA rankings - no other group had such a high average - unbeaten, with 7 points and a goal difference of +7 in three games. And still people pull out the "lucky draw" trope. It's absolute nonsense. Southgate and the players did a great job against Iran and Wales and managed to game manage the USA despite not being at their best.

Highly likely to get through against Senegal too. France will probably be the end of the line but that's because they have better players and are the defending champions. We won't take Senegal for granted though and they certainly won't be pushing the "just a lucky team, these are easy lads" message.

Thoroughly professional performance today and the right team selection against a side that were always going to struggle against pace and pressing.

Lucky England AGAIN, playing a team that had already played 2 games this week. Then they lost their talisman at half time, who had been running the show up until then. Goalkeeping error for the first, fortunate bounce for the interception for the second, another balls up by the keeper for the 3rd. If that Allen shot had been on target at the end of the first half, then it would've been a different game.

And now, typically, we luck out with Senegal in the last 16. If we don't beat them by 5 then I am not watching another minute of this World Cup. Southgates luck MUST run out soon, he is utterly clueless in these tournaments. Please just sack him now to save us all the embarrassment.

I don't even know when our next game is. Thats how much I care. Pathetic England.

Yeah. Southgate out. And as for Rashford, the sooner he stops dicking around with feeding poor children and trying to do some practical levelling up and gets back on the pitch the better. We might win some tournament games then.

Spot on. Don't even get me started.
I would rather Rashford was on the next Question Time panel so he can wang on and on to Fiona about the "starving kids" he pretends to care so much about, than on the pitch for England. When is Southgate going to wake up ?

The quality of England and/or Senegal is irrelevant. It's on ITV - so we're bound to play shite. Southgate can't even rig the TV schedules properly - get rid.

I remember the times when England were absolutely hopeless, so it's good to see a bit of promise with these talented players.

I also remember a time when you were able to write an amusing story that was actually funny.

Thought it was a perfectly confident, and competent, England performance against a particularly poor Wales side. No amount of tubthumping can win you a World Cup, as England know more than anyone, but it was Wales gameplay they needed to focus on.

Onto our first proper test - the African champions.

First paragraph is spot on.

The second isn’t if you believe the FIFA world rankings where the USA are 16th, Senegal 18th, Wales 19th and Iran 20th.

Of course you may find the rankings to be bollocks

At least now when I tune into BBC news tomorrow it won’t feel like I’ve been transported to Wales.
Don't believe it now they are following them like it was a shock they were out. FFS.
