 That midfield is far to attacking, would never work.

Hart

Johnson
Terry
King
Cole

Lennon
Lampard
Barry
Gerrard

Crouch
Rooney

Cappello has said that he doesn't want to play Barry in the first game.

As per the first post, but with Lennon for SWP.

I don't think Lennon is less attacking than Wright-Phillips

I'm talking about the centre of your midfield, Lampard + Gerrard doesn't work, we need someone who can break it up a bit. Can't believe you would choose SWP over Lennon anyway..:bla:

James will be the keeper, I'm sure. Barry will sit this one out.

The back 4 is pretty much set as Johnston, Terry, King & Cole.
Midfield will be Milner, Gerrard and Lampard plus one, probably Lennon
and upfront will be Rooney and either Crouch or Heskey I would assume.

of course we will probably pick up several bad injuries this week, so it will all change.

Lennon 17 Caps 0 Goals
Wright Phillips 31 Caps 6 Goals

:wozza: I can't even be bothered to argue. Wright phillips is a SHIT (especially as a starter) and is getting splinters on the city bench, meanwhile Lennon is playing for a team who got in the champions league last season and he ripped defenders to shreds week in week out.

Lennon > Mr Blobby > SWP

Right answer  It's interesting how we play a few meaningless matches and experiment a bit, and everyone forgets the way we lined up and the tactics we used to get throught the qualifiers (Barry coming in for Lennon or, more likely, J Cole with Gerrard moving wide once Barry is fit)

4-2-3-1 or If Barry out bring in Heskey and revert to Rooney in hole with Gerrard back in the centre

If Heskey had played more than a handful of games this year then I would agree. I can't believe people want Gerrard and Lampard in the centre of midfield together - have we learnt nothing?

Tim, I'm not sure it's necessarily what people "want", I don't think we've got too many viable options.
