Yes sounds like Pietersen and Strauss both lost concentration (not very profesional, hopefully allow another batsman to get some runs and confidence in time for the bigger games.

Prior or Yardy perhaps will get in later on. Looking forward to see how Joyce plays against Englands attack later this afternoon.

Half way 144 for 2, would like to see us get near or over 300 here

need some big hitting if were going to get over 300

Won't be a problem getting over 300 from here, but I'd like us to put a bit of a marker down and aim for 350. They normally say double your score after 30 overs (especially given the 8 wickets in hand) which would put them dead on for 350. Depends how long these two bat however, as they aren't normally the quickest of scorers (another 175 from 20 overs would require a rate just under 9).

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
The five-over period that dare not speak its name (for England batsmen) - it's the batting powerplay. Six fielders must stay inside the ring. England lose a wicket every 14.7 balls in batting powerplays, third worst behind Pakistan (12.6) and West Indies (14.2) of Test nations. (Thanks to Opta Sports for that).

Well, they made it all the way to the last ball until a wicket, that's got to improve the average!

Bopara has got to come into this team hasn't he? Knows the conditions from the IPL and socres very quick runs. Collingwood can't be given too many more chances if we're going to win this.

Farcical finish to the innings. The batting order is all wrong in the tail and there's no 'finisher' to bang off late runs.

The problem is that we need a 6th bowler, as Yardy (and Anderson, in current form!) can't be relied upon to bowl a full 10 overs. Collingwood offers this, and while Bopara could his bowling is not as 'savvy' as Colly's. Who do you bring Bopara in for? In the first game he played instead of Yardy and the lack of a 2nd spinner hurt us.

After the WC I expect the team to be;

Strauss
Bell
Trott
Bopara
Morgan
Prior
Bresnan
Broad
Swann
Shazad
Anderson

With Pieterson and Collingwood having retired from ODIs and Yardy jettisoned.

I'd say Yardy can be relierd on infinetely more than COllingwood, he almost always bowls 9 or 10 overs?

I wouldn't say there's too much wrong with our batting at the moment, we've got over 300 three times in a row now and beat Pakistan fairly easily in previous match.

With three pacemen and two spinners, and Trott and KP i think Bopora would be fine to replace Collingwood if you thought that batting needed that much strengthening but personally, unless Anderson bowls fantastically today, i'd swap him for Shahzad or Bopara
