India won the toss and inserted on an overcast morning, and on a greenish Lord's wicket.

England select Broad ahead of Bresnan... the teams are:

England Alastair Cook, Andrew Strauss (capt), Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell, Eoin Morgan, Matt Prior (wk), Graeme Swann, Stuart Broad, James Anderson, Chris Tremlett.

India Abhinav Mukund, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni (capt & wk), Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Praveen Kumar.

Another period of steady progress for England... 92-2 (37 overs) at mid-session drinks interval.

Not the most exciting day so far for the full house at Lord's.

Trott 30* Pietersen 16*

England 100-2 (40 overs)

Trott very lucky to survive a chance that went between Dhoni and Dravid at first slip.

This was a bad toss to lose, so England have done well to reach 100/2 against some tight bowling in helpful seam conditions.

Was about to post something similar, been watching for the last hour and kp and trott have done pretty well to stay in. Had we won the toss, Anderson would've run riot in these conditions.

Now Zaheer is out I expect a few more runs to come after tea, these two just need to keep it ticking over and not chuck away their wicket

The South African, erm Engish batsmen [ (c) Cheeky Monkey ] finally look well set, which means one thing: Pieterson will chuck his wicket away before tea, to be taken at 4.10pm.

Khan isn't bowling, but is there apparently. Cricinfo half-suggesting Dhoni might bowl.

Raina can a little bit, Tendulker doesn't anymore so Singh's got a big workload for the day.
Finger's crossed for Kumar to carry on running down the wicket, and Dhoni to throw another hissy-fit
