Maybe it's just me, but when I look around the England squad I see far fewer dicks than I did a few years ago.

I agree with that.

I can understand an element of wanting to see the likes of JT brought down a peg or two. That never over-powered my desire to see England do well, but I could understand it. The squad now, only really has Cole (for me, he has genuine competion from Baines these days) and Rooney, who fall into the "dick" category.

Elsewhere, it's largely a very likeable bunch. Of course Stevie G will always peddle out the "ach, we know that wasn't our best performance" when past history suggests it might be actually, but hey, what's he supposed to say? "Look, it's you lot who keep saying this squad is full of World Class players, but frankly it's not. At this level, without the foreign stars in our clubs sides, we're pretty average." Of course not. He is a passionate England player, Frank has never shown a hint of "retiring from International football" to prolong his bank balance, sorry, his club career. We don't have any signs of a Carragher permitting us to pick him when the tournament comes round, and NO BLOODY JOHN TERRY.

Yeah, it's a very valid point you make, the "dick-o-meter" is running pretty low in the squad these days, and that has to help the overall image of the group.

England should stop paying players to play. Then we might get a team of players that want to play. To be honest if the Albion Development team were playing in a stadium next door then I'd rather watch them than England.

They've been giving all their international fees to charity, via the England Footballers' Foundation, since 2007. They just don't make a massive song and dance about it.

Tonight's England v Montenegro match is on ITV so not only is there that god awful bunch of tuneless tosspots, the self-styled "england band", we also have the worst commentary pair of Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend. Couple that with a probably lacklustre performance from a bunch of over-paid prima donnas, Pug-faced Adrian Chiles' gormless inanity, Roy Keane's glowering and Lee bloody Dixon and it's set to drive me round the twist for two hours.
Yet I'll still watch it, I know I will.
I deserve all I get I suppose

I'm actualy up for these two, they are important games against decent sides & for once we have an inform strike force (Rooney, Welbeck, Sturridge & Defoe have all scored plenty this year.
