[Football] England ticket question

I don't know if I'm showing my age, I was lucky enough to get a Cat 1 ticket for Sunday night, given the occasion, we gave ourselves plenty of time getting to the Olympic Stadium.

We had a slight issue when the Politzei told us when tried to get in our specific entrance, L4, that we couldn't because it was 'full'.

Eventually got in to get to our respective seats, to find two knuckle draggers, akin to Dick Emery and Roy Kinnear's classic skinheads of the 1970's, we said.

"You're in our seats Gents"

To which the 'Dad' replied "Its England mate you sit where you can"

My companion, a little more forthright than me, retorted "We've paid for these seats, not for you to sit in them"

Dad again replied "But we've already moved three f****** times!"

Guess what they moved a fourth

In the aftermath of Sunday a couple of people on the way home said we were fortunate to get them to move, one bloke I met on the train yesterday had paid face value for his seat but his seat had been taken by one of the more robust members of the England support and he just didn't want the hassle.

Question is NSCers were we right or are we out of touch?

For the few Albion away games I go to nowadays I'm always sat in my designated seat.

And I've sat in the same seat since the opening of the Amex, there are on occasions empty seats nearby, if I turn up for the Utd game and I find someone sitting in my seat, I'm naturally going to ask him to move, so why should England be any different?

Depends on the general feel as you go to the seats. I try to "read the room" asap.

I don’t know the answer regarding England games, but surely the sensible answer, rather than keep moving, is to go to the seat your ticket says is yours and stay there. (Obviously directed at the pair who were in your seats, not you).

Always difficult. My mate has trouble standing so we book front row and generally find our seats empty. But on the odd ocassion I go alone I like to stand in the middle but always find that 'groups' may have seats all over the stand but still get together.
I sit as close as I can and if bothered by the person whose seat I'm in I then tell someone else they're in my seat.

My daughter and her boyfriend were there but they went into the ground when the gates opened so had no issues and the supporters around them were decent, however for the Swiss game they were unfortunate to have a load of our twattish supporters around them and didn't enjoy it one bit, when Saka scored she got hit on the head by a full pint and ended up getting checked out in the medical room, when they came back they were allowed to move to a "posher" area for the rest of the game. We have our fair share of twats at our away games as well, looking out for your fellow fans has long gone I'm afraid

Read the room? They booked and paid for the seats so they should sit in them! If they refuse to budge then get the stewards involved.

Unfortunately it’s the way it is - we sometimes will do it to sit together but the organisation for the Euros was decent and the app let us sit multiple groups together.

Went to Torquay last year and the row in front had a family sat in five seats. Couple turned up and said "Excuse me, you're in our seats". When the family checked they were in the seats they'd bought, which were the couples' ST seats. Stewards were baffled but fortunately there were quite a few empty seats.

One of the oddest “you’re in my seat” stories concerned me at our Europa League home game against Marseille. I was sat in my usual season ticket seat in the West Upper - I did the three match offer job - when this geezer stood right next to me. I would have got pissed just breathing in whatever sauce he’d been on in the previous few hours. Yep, he came up with the old “you’re in my seat” bollocks. You’re wrong, I replied, check your ticket. He then got all arsey and told me to f*** off. It was then that he checked his ticket - same block as mine, same seat number, but ten rows further down the aisle. He moved, nearly fell down the steps, and went off on one again further down the stand. What a twat!

With respect- b******s! Get to your seat you've paid for any time and it should still be available. I don't recall reading in the T&Cs there is a specific time it becomes unreserved?

Definitely in the right and f*** his it’s-England-sit-where-you-want attitude. I’m going to guess that the price difference between your Cat 1 tickets and lower categories were 10s, if not hundreds, of Euros, so why should you give that up?

Same applies to away games, even though tickets are generally same price. People in the better seats have got them due to having the LPs and first choice. More importantly, if you can’t sit in your own seat then the chances are that you’ll then struggle to find another spare seat without getting asked to move for the allocated ticket owner. It becomes a clustefuck in away away end that’s more than 80% sold out.

Yeah decent thanks ! Unfortunately we were flagging after a 5am finish in Hamburg and 4 hours sleep. A few afternoon beers and a big Thai meal cut our afternoon short a bit.

Love Berlin though, every time I visit I find somewhere completely new
