As Hiney says! Rain until Saturday night predicted. If we can somehow defy the rain gods I fancy our chances!

Hopefully Hampshire will lose loads of money from this.

According to South Today they paid £1m for the test match and as of last night had only sold about half the tickets. A loss is likely, I'd wager :)

Thought Nasser Hussain said it was sold out when he was commentating?

Just recounting what was said on South Today last night!

Given the likely weather and poor ticket sales, I would say it's not going to do them any favours financially. Surprised they only paid £1m for it though, I thought Cardiff paid 3.

Yeah, they said it was a closed offer, or sommat like that, so they can only guess at the amout paid, a bit like the "undisclosed fee" for a footballer :)

Cricket also loses of course, the counties don't survive without the money the internationals generate. Great to have internationals and a test match on the south coast in my opinion, hope the rain does abate and we have a decent game, the wicket usually does something for the bowler at the Rose Bowl.

Agreed. I hate Hampshire.

Same as, after they beat us in that 50 over final (can't remember who sponsered it then) 3 or so years ago at Lords and ruined my day. Dominic Dork's a tw*t too.

Anyone close to the Rose Bowl? What's the weather like down there? Any chance of an on time start?

Currently POURING here, about 5 miles West of the ground.

Ask Hiney though - he's about 500 yards away.

I'm not sure it will affect the other counties money though. Hampshire have paid ECB for the staging rights which is guaranteed, I think only Hamphire would lose out if it doesn't make a profit

You maybe right in that case, I know in years gone by some of the gate receipts went to the hosting county, but the majority went to the ECB which then distributed accordingly.
