England 23-man squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Belarus.

England squad: James (Portsmouth), Green (West Ham), Carson (West Brom); Brown (Manchester United), Johnson (Portsmouth), Terry (Chelsea), Ferdinand (Manchester United), Lescott (Everton), Upson (West Ham), A Cole (Chelsea), Bridge (Chelsea); Beckham (Los Angeles Galaxy), Walcott (Arsenal), Barry (Aston Villa), Jenas (Tottenham), Lampard (Chelsea), Gerrard (Liverpool), Downing (Middlesbrough), Wright-Phillips (Manchester City); Heskey (Wigan), Crouch (Portsmouth), Rooney (Manchester United), Defoe (Portsmouth).

Owen left out again, will he ever get another cap ?

How Capello keeps over-looking Ashley Young is beyond me.

Micah Richards is the best up-coming centre back in this country, so why on earth has he been left out the last two squads.

Capello seems clueless to me

Capello has earnt a lot of respect for the Croatia game (and rightly so), but I still think the exclusion of Owen is staggering. I don't care what you say, but to me the proposition of Owen coming off the bench is far more promising than Defoe or Crouch.

Have to say I find it very strange as Owen is on form and a proven goal scorer but Capello got it right in Croatia and Walcott is the man of the moment at present so maybe we will see 6 points over the next week and a half.

Owen is the only natural, out and out goalscorer in this country, why he's out of the squad is beyond me

I agree but Capello got it spot on in Croatia so why change the format ?

Not suggesting changing the starting line up but surely Owen is a great option as a substitute, especially considering players like Rooney, Walcott and Gerrard can all rotate around the front line to accomodate a natural goalscorer.

1. David James

2. Glen Johnson
5. Rio Ferdinand
6. John Terry
3. Ashley Cole

7. Theo Walcott
8. Frank Lampard
4. Gareth Barry
10. Steven Gerrard
11. Shaun Wright-Phillips

9. Wayne Rooney

Yes he is and in form so you would perhaps pick him ahead of Crouch or Defoe

Personally I think Bridge deserves a place as well.

I would have picked Woodgate over Lescott or Upson but I suppose at this point picking a Tottenham player is difficult to justify.

read in the paper the other day that fab is reluctant to pick players who are playing in sides that are struggling as there confidence may be low

could explain owens absence - not that it is much excuse, when he is blatantly in form and the only natural goalscorer we have. still, he got it spot on against croatia with a massive gamble, so got to have faith

Well he's managed to pick Jenas. Ashley Young for Jenas is a no-brainer too.

I find it unbelievable Owen can't get in... it is truly baffling. I think Crouch, Heskey & Defoe all have a case for being included, but why does he need Terry, Ferdinand, Brown, Upson & Lescott? That's five centre-backs. Given Brown & Lescott can play full-backs I would drop Upson & bring Owen in for him

What has Downing done to warrant a place?... We all know he got into the squad in the first place by being McClown's 'favourite' but he has gone now so there really is no need for Downing.

Haven't Defoe and Crouch scored 7 and 8 goals, respectively, in all competitions, compared to Owen's TWO?

How can you possibly justify picking him ahead of either of them on the basis of 'form'.

CLASS perhaps, but form, certainly not.

Would definitely agree with Young / Agbonlahor over Jenas / Downing.

Actually I'd pick Doug Loft over Stewart Downing.
