England players could be racially abused in Macedonia

According to several of today's papers Macedonia officials cannot guarantee that England players will not be racially abused.

Simple, if that happens kick Macedonia and anybody else (including Italy for example) out of the competition. I think that might send a message.

It is only a minority of people who are racists. Some English supporters are also racist as well. Calling the germans Nazis and banging on about how we won the war is that not racist? Booing national anthems which we always do is that not a bit disprectful.

Difference between England and rest of europe is we cant seem to let things go. This is why we still bang on about 1966 every f***ing week, and go about beating the Germans in the War and the Argies and thinking we are the best in the world, when we are clearly not and we clearly do not have the skill or intelligence to Win a match when it matters.

Secondly do Italy really care, they have won 4 world cups, been in countless Finals which is more I can say for us so who laughing. I watched Italy V Macedonia the other night and they where showing off the World cup and still celebrating, will this ever happen here?

How can officials guarantee anything?

Officials from everywhere would like to say there is no racism but if a bunch of brain dead loser turn up at a game be it at Old Trafford, the San Siro, Maracanã or the Tetovo it's going to happen.

The point I was really getting at is that some in some countries its not a very small minority. there's no question that we have our morons too but they are happily few. As it is we all know that other nations have a far from small and quiet racist following and should they get something other than a token fine it might get the point across to other fans of that country that such behaviour is just not acceptable.

Indeed. But I don't see how the officials from Macedonia could come out and say "There will be no racism" short of closing the stadium to the fans.

Obviously not but but should there be a significant amount of abuse to the point when its clearly heard then that's time for a stiff punishment. I think if somebody was kicked out then other countries would get a far clearer warning as FIFA would at last be giving suitable notice.

Far too often this sort of thing has gone virtually unpunished.

I think that would have been against Lithuania? Were they still dancing around with the trophy and celebrating, at the end, having been held to a 1-1 draw?

lUEFA says it will award England the game 3-0 if there's racist abuse: which is handy, as that's what I've put on at the bookies. (not that I'm advocating anything of the sort):lolol:

Taking a slightly different view of this, if Macedonia do get booted out/have the game abandoned/get sanctions, it would be far easier politically for UEFA to do this to them than it would for, say, Italy or Spain, two of the countries who appear to have ongoing problems of racism within football audiences.

I mean, as far as UEFA are concerned, who the f*** are Macedonia?

From the match report I did last time we played in Macedonia. Will send a match report when I get back to work on Thursday afternoon.
Mr Blobby

"I wont go into the game as it was a while ago now, but my only sad and bitter memory of the trip was the disgraceful racial abuse handed out to Sol Campbell and Emile Heskey. We thought we heard the odd Monkey chant when they warmed up, but when Campbell put in a hard challenge the Monkey chants started again. The w***er next to us was bouncing up and down getting his kids to join in. What a sad ignorant man. We had to bite our tongues, we tried to get some on video as have a digital camera but its not very clear.

Soon after about the 3rd or 4th lot of bad abuse (last lot aimed at Heskey warming up) they made and announcement and we guess it was to ask them to stop monkey chanting as some people around us applauded it. Now what will FIFA/UEFA do about this totally unacceptable behaviour? Nothing of course, but hey lets see if we can throw England out the tournament, and racial abuse, what racial abuse, didn't hear it! The atmosphere was fairly intimidating and as England took over the game second half they mainly sang "F**k you England" or "F**k you Beckham", but he of course had the last laugh netting the winner. The players celebrated each goal and the final whistle with the group behind the west goal. We left at the final whistle with no problems.

The only direct abuse we got was at half time when we went to the toilet. The women’s was full of blokes weeing against the wall and it was pitch black so I went in with Liz. As we came out a little group saw us and shouted out quite originally "F**k you English". We just walked away. After the game we headed back along the river and ran into hundreds returning from the big screen. There was no hint of trouble and we passed a bar with several big screens so settled down to watch Italy v Wales. We met up with Steve again and went for a meal. Gary, Liz and I (along with about 6 other England fans) settled down in the bar for the evening. The local beer was very nice and at about 80p a pint what more could you ask."

I can think of quite a few nations in Europe stuck in the past.

I guess you've never been stuck with Greeks banging on about the Turkish war of 1921 (date?) or the Northern Irish and their obsessions with 400 year old battles or worst of all the bloody Serbs obsession with a 700 year old defeat at the hands of the Ottoman Empire.

If the Macedonian supporters had a fancy dress day at the football tomorrow and a supporter turned up as a monkey would this be deemed racist??

no it isnt racist, since they are the same race you pillock. Everytime some says a bit of frog or kraut baiting is racist, they devalue the term.

Bigoted? Xenphobic? Prejudice? Stupid or Childish? certainly, and theres a little bit of each of those in all of us. lets leave "racism" to describe what it used to, intolarance towards those of a different race.
